No, I didn't, am familiar with it though. Lots of problems there. I'm late deafened, had sudden hearing loss at age 19 when I was in nursing school. Wish I had started to learn asl when I was advised to earlier in my life. I know it's never too late, but I just won't do it now. I get along with hearing aids.
 
I guess we're all collectively known as Yankees outside the US, but for those who have several generations in the South, we call ourselves Rebels. :P

Yes i know the stories, and what happened.a few deaf schools in canada also were nightmares like that..
