My dear AllDeaf friends -
I am sorry if I have not seemed like I was in the true Xmas spirit as I was last year -
As you know, my grandfather died last May and I have had a little hard time getting over that.
Now it is Christmas time, where we should be rejoicing over our blessings, our fellowships, families and the goodwill of our friends -
I have been a bit of a Scrooge lately.
My grandmother, who is the wife of my late grandfather (yes, the one who passed away in May), is now facing her Maker.
She has been ill with pneumonia twice in the space of three months, and her body is just not strong enough to recover - she is already tired and worn-out. We also know that she misses Grandpa, too, who is waiting to bring her back home.
She has been non-responsive for the last week, on a morphine drip with just enough fluids to circulate the morphine through her body - she is in a semi-comostate state at this time, and we have made the difficult decision to let her go. She is on a DNR order, established at the time Grandpa was diagnoised with Alzheimiers only four short years ago.
My parents and Aunt Judy (Mom's sister) are in Kansas with her now - so that she will be surrounded by her daughters.
We are praying for a quick, painless and peaceful end.
She has and still is a wonderful woman, who has surivived hardships and seen so much, and I know I will miss her very much.
When the end comes, I will have MizzDeaf, Cheri and TweetyBird post my messages on this forum as I will be winging my way to Kansas as soon as I can. I will be out of touch almost right after I pass Wakeeney, Kansas on the way to Hill City.
Pray for her.
Thanks.
