Ok, guys, I need your opinion on this. I'm going to make this as brief and clear as possible so everyone understands.

Let's pretend you decided to go shopping on a product for the deaf or hard of hearing. You go online to find companies that sell the product you're looking for.

You see some companies such as hearmore.com, deafworks.com, azhearing.com, deafbuy.com (no more). You NEVER heard of these companies before. Which company appeals more to you? Does a company with "deaf" included in its name make you want to go buy there? Or maybe you'll go with the company that has "hear" in its name? If possible, also explain why.

Thanks in advance.

In my experience, notice myself is really warying with any business with either "deaf" and "hear". Cuz too many complaints about deaf business that really rip off. Usually for me to find the business with better reputaiton even without use the words (either deaf and hear).

I prefer to shop or order anything from companies with good reputation. I would take a time to wait until I know for the sure that new businesses are good or bad before shop or order. I would NEVER trust "saleman at door" or unknown names companies.

I order from online sometimes whom I know from the name from any catogulates. I´m not type to buy anything from door saleman etc. until......

I had bad experience with HOH saleman who sell alarm clock, flashing lighting, ring bell, phone, etc etc. I used order anything from shop who is specialist for deaf years until I thought I would support deaf saleman for change. (I´m not only one). Well I ordered only travel alarm clock worth €29 & give him my heathly insurance number (accord German law, Insurance pay everything) & name my doctor & phone number. Guess what he abused my trust. He got my doctor´s result with list of goods you name then forward the bill to my insurance to pay everything. I was shock when the large parcel arrived at my house & saw many in the list which it cost €900. I really don´t need it because I have which so I went to check my insurance to explain them that I need only travel alarm clock. They can´t do anything to against HOH saleman & advise me that if I order anything then go to SHOP instead of door saleman. I´m disappoint because I thought I would support "Deaf" with his business. I vowed I would trust ONLY well-known companies, shop with good reputation or well-known online.

Deafbuy.com is no longer as it's been merged and changed to deafnation.com

My sister works for that company -- very small business but it does some good for the deaf community such as having devices for the deaf and network support, etc.

Just have to read the sites and have some communication with the people behind the business -- to see how it is run, etc. See if it can be trusted, etc.

Hi all

I just buy what's value for money, depends WHAT I am buying, the fact it has deaf or hearing as a title, would make little difference whatever. I might, be tempted with looking at a Bank, Insurance Company, etc IF, it made it easier to understand options, but even then would still judge it on value for money. Deaf have to be competitive, that's life. I'd take harder access to get the best deal. Perhaps a supportive 'WHICH' company would be a help ? to tell where the best deals ARE, and in access that is better for us.

By far the most expensive company in the UK, for support equipment for Deaf/deaf is SOUND ADVANTAGE, a company dedicated to these products, I would buy from a hearing company as they tend to be cheaper, and provide identical equipment, so the issue of dedicated business would only work for me, if they were competitive, I aint that rich, I can afford to pay more than other people just for a principle.

Deaf business which quite expensive.. Yes because only small product and trying to sell slow but isn't same hearing runs business there have LARGER products and already have manfuration runs well smooth.. but not DEAF have one ?? Sorry
I understand that so Many Deaf complaints againist who Deaf runs business pretty crappy rip off.. oh of course I'm run business of Bulldogs and must be SAME rest of other Breeders Bulldogs price quote.. I cannot giving rip off which must same other breeders who sell the correct price.. I have to follow..

I was prevouis run my own business of Wood Crafts.. selling pretty beautiful well unfortunally other Deaf couples who steal my product of patent.. I made suing them.. What happend other rest Deaf peoples heard about us... look us bad repluation.. HELL no.. I have rights my own created patent which I've paid lot of money.. and trying to sell good products to customer satisfty that important.. Affect my business went fallign down because other Deaf couples are quite stubborn and want sell cheaper than I do... I gave it up... and run business closed.. Got a call from the Mall.. Customers were upset and want us back which wanted special order of my product real handmade of woodworking.

Not easy like this..

All of you guys have to understand Deaf runs business really BIG COMPLETION which the best company than you.. Really not necessary..

Look example: Deaf has run their own hosting and ISP... other Deaf people turns into jealous and trying ot beat their price and want steal their customer and join the hosting.. Pretty silly.. Look the world of hearing peoples are not care about others run business... as long "repluation very loyal and honest trust" want to giving customer satisfty that key!!!! I think Deaf really wants THINK THINK "I'm the BEST than yours" That stupid! " Business are Business"

SO!

I'm truly sorry, Liebling what you had experience went sour... So am I don't trust salesperson.. *Not thanks* I'd rather ZERO salesperson on my doormat "unwelcome"
Still no matter what Deaf or Hearing saleperson.. still NO!

I'm not exactly crazy for products labeled with "deaf" or "hear". No offense, but it does make the name sound a bit lame. It's like saying "Black Beer Barn" or "Deaf-R-Us". I would be more likely to buy a product for the deaf from a regular store like "Best Buy" than a store with the word "deaf" in its title.

Well, I can order any devices from Harris Communications since the company has a good reputation and friendly staff who can answer my questions promptly.

I don't buy anything from Wyndtell or othe deaf companies which rip off customers. I have heard alot of negative comments from my Deaf buddies, so for pagers, I rather buy it directly from a hearing company with a good reputation like Tmobile, for example.

Bully, yes, competition is always for Deaf sellers who want to lurk Deaf customers to buy something. Competition is popular thing for America. It is nothing new. But, you have sold bulldogs at reasonable prices without ripping off..that's good. Keep it that way. Winks.

Harris Communications, i agree Oddball, does have a pretty good reputation! ive ordered a few items from them and have had no problems with the business

Same here, Fly Free..ive ordered from Harris Comunications a few times and never had any problems at all...in fact, im going to order Sonic Boom alarm clock.

I don't know Vampy, I kinda like the term "deaf" for businesses. It's better then hearing impaired, or hearing handicapped or any of those other stupid phrases. I just don't think that this place would be the same if it was called "All Hear" Besides, I've seen a couple of businesses label themselves as "Black" or Asian or gay or whatever.
I think using deaf or hoh is better then using the term "hear"
In relation to businesses, the term hear always makes me think of the healthcare aspect of hearing loss, which is actually quite boring. There's only so much milage that you can get out of "better hearing" (which is why Silent News was FAR more fun to read then Volta Voices/SHHH's journal/ Hearing Health, and why this place is more fun then Healthy Normal Hearing Exchange or HOH Advocate's site)
