Combat G.I. Jane

IMO, alot of women could get scared once they see real war and want to go home immediately. War is hell! Depending on how tough they are.

uh maybe you but not them. I think it's best to limit an opinion to yourself and not speak for others.

btw - what you've just said.. it's called desertion. it's a crime.

That doesn't answer my question.

Your question isn't clear and you need make more specify.

My answer still applies to your question if you don't make specify or clarify.

The question was very clear. Vacation Guy said government SHOULD make the decision. You said that you agree. Why?

That doesn't answer my question.

Yes, it partially does. To more completely answer it, the job of the government is to protect the minority. On it's own, this issue would not be given fair judgement by the military because women are a minority so the government is right, and has the right, to decide.

If it doesn't work out, they can alway do what they do to males that can not deal with it. Discharge them.
The military doesn't like to do that. It's expensive.

I'd also like to point out that a woman does not automatically get discharged if she is pregnant today. You can apply for a discharge, but it is up to the commanding officer to approve it.

How many women do you think will really be up to this, and pass a physical fitness test?
Not many women can pass the men's test. A lot of women have a hard enough time passing the women's test.

Yes, the pregnancy policy has changed greatly since my day. Before my time, pregnancy and even marriage meant discharge from the service. Then, when I was on active duty, if you were married, and if you had childcare arrangements made for deployments, and if your commanding officer approved, you could stay in. It also meant unpaid maternity leave, and sometimes having to start over the advancement process. It also meant while the mom was on maternity leave, her shipmates had to do extra work to cover her absence.

because Pentagon and Department of Defense are part of government, so that why I agree with him about government make decision to change the rules for military.

If you disagree so who will going charge the military?

You are not understanding. Let's just move on.

Don't ask these question again.

I know. Like I said, the key word in that exchange is "should." You seem to be having trouble with that so it is best for us just to move on.

Well, they didn't waste any time. ADM (ret.) Sestak was on TV tonight supporting women registering for the draft as the next step.
