Do you have bots to chat with? If so, who you talk with?

I talk with smarterchild and recipebuddie on aim.

Smarterchild is for fun to talk with and recipebuddie is a person who I ask for to get recipes and give them to me. :)

What you think about chat bots? I think they are fun!
 
I think I have talked with an AIM bot once before, which was fun at first, then got tired of the repeated messages I was getting.

Do you know if one can create his/her own chat bot?

I remember some people talked about how they created AIM bots using C++ and Visual Basic.

It's possible to create your own bot. I think it's tough though. Basically, you have to be able to analyze every word that could be said and know how to respond. For instance, "How are you?"... you check for 'how' and 'you', then respond with "I'm fine." However, if they detect a third word... 'old', then they respond with the age. Must be a lot of work to be able to include all of that shit. Heh!

I am currently working on a personality chat bot that can remember names and other things you say, tell time, do simple arithematic, display your conversation as a log, and handle bad language.

i use smarterchild for dictionary purpose, regional information, anything that it can help me with my homework.. maybe cheat on test too :-x
