NEW YORK -- A teenage McDonald's worker was charged with assault after allegedly hiding bits of glass in a hamburger served to a police officer, authorities said Sunday.

The officer, who is assigned to the canine unit, suffered cuts to his throat and mouth while eating a Big Mac he bought from the McDonald's on Garrison Avenue in the Bronx late Saturday. He was treated at a hospital and released.

An investigation led police to Albert Garcia Jr., 18, of the Bronx, who works at the restaurant, according to Sgt. Mary Christine Doherty, a police department spokeswoman.

Police said they were charging Garcia with first-degree assault, reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a weapon. He was not immediately available for comment.

Juan Rodriguez, the owner and operator of the Hunts Point franchise, said in a statement that the restaurant was cooperating with authorities.

"The safety of my customers and my crew is top priority and I take this matter very seriously," he said.

Can ravensteve handle broken glass without cutting himself?

Since he was capable to handle a weapon to slash tires on a patrol car, he might be able to handle a piece of broken glass without cutting himself. Although, he might need adult supervision.

This is kind of scary from a law enforcement perspective. The cop didn't do anything to the guy other than order food at McDonalds. This is the reason I don't tell them who I am. If I order out, the food isn't delivered to the station unless its a business that I highly trust. Otherwise I'll get somebody to pick it up for me or go pick it up myself if I have time..by then, the food is wrapped and ready to go.

I once ordered a pizza and I immediately recognized the delivery driver. His comment to me 'Huh....now I know where you live'. And some people would question why utilize my right to keep and bear arms. When that delivery driver starts acting like Steve and decides he wants to pay me a visit at 3am, he'd better think twice before he steps foot near my house.

Its scary that there are people out there that will take things out on cops because of their profession. Just look at Steve...he's hunted down a deputies mother and has slashed tires on police cars....over a parking ticket.

Yeah slashing tires are wrong.
RavenSteven, there could be somebody who lives need to be save...
And that cop could have save somebody...
but he couldn't... maybe that somebody is probably hurt
or dead cause you slashed the cops' car. Shame on you RavenSteven.

And that is why I always look in my sandwich, to see if there is
hair or whatever in my hamburger.... cause I don't trust
anybody.
