Warning: Atm/bank Machines

Claim: ATM houses duplicate card reader and wireless camera.

Status: True.

Example: [Collected on the Internet, 2003]

- Click on the link below to view the webpage, I suggest that you check it out. It has several pictures, and you won't believe your eyes.

This made me think twice about going to a bank machine, now I'll have to check it every single time from now on.

offically those pictures are to warn people.. that other people can make copy of ur ATM card..... and ur PIN numbers..

they catch your PIN number from the hidden camera.. and the scan copy from ATM card... clear?

it's not for finding fraud... it is the person who install it to make copy of ATM cards and PIN number

*writing myself a reminder* Never use the ATM machine again.... :nana:

ive known abt that for a while -- i never use ATMs thats not owned by a bank -- i just go to the bank's ATM machine whenever i need casheroos

Just do what I do... I cover the number buttons with my left hand and enter my PIN. Most of the time I rarely go to ATMs anyway, as I use my debit cards for all transactions.

Debit cards are still not 100% secure even though I use them as my primary method to buy. In fact, there are some places where they have hidden cameras at the counter. Especially the gas stations for some odd reason, what's up with that? There has been quite a number of these folks who got busted for having hidden cameras and making copies of debit/credit cards.

There was a gas station that got busted for making copies of hundreds, maybe thousands of credit cards, debit cards and more a couple years ago. They used some kind of device to make copies, I'm not sure what it was. Maybe it was a camera, but I can't remember since it've been a while.

The thing is, it's always a good idea to take precautions prior to entering the PIN numbers, look first for any suspecious looking devices.

Better to be safe than sorry.

Snopes,
Police in Canada, the United States and Malaysia have reported cases of fraud using similar hi-tech methods.1

The pictures you saw on the webpage was from Brazil, but activities like this one has been reported around here too.

This is also a matter of common sense. The best place to use the ATM are at banks.

Holy Shit! No wonder I refused to use ATM that is in other places, like gas stations, different bank ATM, or stores.(Have to use Surcharge payment, and its fucking S L O W!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I only go directly to my own bank to get cash when the drive thru is open or, I go and get money from the BANK itself's ATM machine (No surcharge), I also got get to use Wellsfargo's ATM machine, with (no Surcharge). I'll make sure the ATM card where you slide the card to read your barcode, I am going to check if its "the real one" and cover my hands when I punch in my pin number.
Eeeks.

FYI, I let you know I did went to the bank today.. Every I checked the cam inside of adversting post, camera and card atm slot... where I feel more safer while can I use it.. Seems nothing on it.. i looked around.. make sure is safer.. ahh I put into my card atm and to get my $$$
Made me feel creepy... *sigh* I already marked that bank where i went...
I wrote down name of street..
I gonna check another location bank and others places too.. reason for my protection security.. eh

btw thanks for you bring this issued up here.... *wink*~ ;)

Ugh ? There is another one scum on your credit card

Keep a watch out for people standing near you at retail stores,
restaurants, grocery stores, etc., that have a cell phone in hand.
With the new camera cell phones, they can take a picture of your credit
card, which gives them your name, number, and expiration date.

Identification theft is one of the fastest growing scams today, and this is just another example of the means that are being used.

So... be aware of your surroundings.

I could not find Bingo's post about the ATM. This thread needs to be merge with his thread but I could not find it. :(
