Any of you have the same problem?...

In cold climates, the winter air is naturally drier. It is even worse indoors with heating systems that dry the air even more.

The Aveeno line has some very good moisturizing products for use in the bath, shower, and after.

Yes, exactly and thanks for saving my little work. eh lol

Humidifier is the best thing I can recommend.

By the way I thank God not living in the cold winters, anymore. I hate the heat and dry air.

So humidity rules where I live! :thumb:

Liebling,

I had been constantly dry skin in the winter.. I kept using St Ives Vitamin E
and vitamin A Advanced Therapy lotion (Extra Dry Skin)

Seems helps me lot but I'd like to know Liebling's secret recipie?
:)

Thanks midwife for bath oil recipe... :D

It's her who recommended me to rid of expensive baby oil, lotion, cream, etc.... to add her homemade recipe and vaseline to cream baby's butt after diaper...

Anyway, she came to teach us how to take care of our first baby son Danny at almost 13 years ago.

For baby bath - just 1 yolk and 3 tablespoon olive oil. Beat yolk with olive oil in the small bowl until they are smooth and then pour mixture into baby bath. After finish bath... - do not rub baby's skin but pat baby's skin soft and gentle with towel... It's also good for baby's head, too. No moisturize cream/lotion necassary because oil are already on the boby... good enough. I use homemade bath oil like this for my children & ourselves for 13 years since Danny was baby... No powder talc or moisturize necassary. I also use vaseline to cream baby's butt before diaper... No baby things like cream, loition, etc... since Danny's time... Thanks midwife... We use this recipe for ourselves...

Here
For adult bath...

3 yolk and 8 tablespoon of olive oil (don't throw white eggs away ... save it for facial mask).
20 drops of any favorite essential oils whatever you like lilac, lavender, vanilla, rose, musk, cinnamon, orange, lemon, or Chamonmile. (only one essential oil, you choose). Its also good for hair shine, too. After finish with hair in oil bath, then shampoo and conditoner, raise with clean water (go to shower to rid of shampoo/conditoner cream). Don't rub skin but pat skin soft and gentle... No moisturize cream necassary.

Beat yolks with olive oil and essential oil together until they are smooth then empty them in bath...

You can add extra yolk and 3 tablespoon of olive oil if 3 yolk and 8 tablespoon of olive oil is not enough for your dry skin if you like to.

Homemade facial mask...

3 egg whites
2 tablespoon honey
1 1/2 tablespoon of olive oil or sunflower oil

Beat them together with electric hand whisk until they are smooth then add mixture on your face... Don't rub your face but spread thick over your face and leave up to 15 or 20 minutes then wash off and splash with cold water..

Milk and Honey Bath
2 pint of milk, 2 tablespoon honey & few drops lavender esstenial oil... (you can choose any esstenial oil if you don't like lavender). Beat them together with cup of hot water until they are smooth then empty them into bath... It's good for skin smooth ...

I use yolk and olive oil bath and other homemade oil baths often during winter time.

Please let me know what you think of my homemade bath oil.. .how you feel... good or not... I like to hear your opinion after try my recipe...

Use a special kind of salt for water that helps ur skin from dryness. It works for me to feel soothe and comfortable my skin. It also helps your hair softer and shiny, too.

It is only five dollars a big bag of salt that u can buy if u have those equipment that it will spread through the water pipe.

It ll save your trouble. ;)

I notice every night, I changed my clothes. I itched all over my legs due to dry skin. It drove me a nuts !!

I hate the winter !! I become old and more dry on my skin during cold the weather. :(

yes, I used loition everytime I took a shower on my feet and legs before I put my pants and socks on to get ready for a work.

I know that many people do not use the raw eggs any more because of the risk of salmonella.

http://www.fsis.usda.gov/Fact_Sheets/Focus_On_Shell_Eggs/index.asp

We are not talking about eat raw egg but Beauty Recipes. Eggs are in many Beauty recipes... Don´t you know eggs is useful for homemade baths, shampoo, facial mask etc ?

Of course I know salmonella a long time ago from Public Health Conference... All what we do is watch the date of egg box before buy them... Do not need to panic over that salmonella as long as we check the date of egg is okay.

I don´t thew egg shell away but save raw Shell egg to bowl until they are dry after use eggs for fried egg, homemade bath oil, mask, etc. I cracked dried shell egg shell into fine then sprinkled them to green plants or compost at garden... moles host Shell eggs... that´s why they dont come to damage my garden.

Bitter lemon and sugar against raw yolk eggs if you fix homemade mayonnise or ice cream... I often do that for many years... and homemade bath oils, facial mask, etc. for 13 years... If eat raw egg is YES... and If use egg for homemade bath, mask etc... is NO. My plants and garden look good with help from shell egg... It does not affect my health... :)

For your information... I´m egg lover... but I don´t eat raw egg but cooking.

Everytime I take a bath during the wintertime, my skin becomes very dry or itchy ( almost feel like an ant or a little bug biting my legs, back or arms etc ...)

Is it because of the weather outside or the soap you buy or from the water itself or from the clothes soap after you washed your clothes?

I've been adding baby oil when I take a bath, sometimes it would help but sometimes it doesn't, just wondering if any of you have the same problem?

This is typical for the winter, as the dewpoint is very low (not the humidity) and the air is dry.

On occasion, I do use lotion, but I don't use lotion that has been tested on animals. Neither do I buy products from companies that test on animals.

Angel.. i used to be like that... until I bought Olay soap... no more dry skins... i use it all the times now...

Thanks Tweetyie, Meg and the others as well... :grouphug:

I will buy the baby lotion first to see if it works for me! ;)...

Hi, Why don't you try oatmeal bath and lotions? they are very good for my skin. My skins are very senteve (Sp).

I am new to this forum today and saw this tread. I lived in Illinois all my life and suffered with HORRIBLE dry and itchy skin in the winter. This was my doctors advice and it worked. It seems kind of yucky but it worked for me. First I used Dove moisturizing soap and Alveeno lotion. (Make sure whatever lotion you use does not have a high alcahol level or you will just dry out your skin more) Also once a week I would lather my self up in vaseline before bed and let it soak in overnight (I know it sound gross) and then shower next morning. Kept my skin very very nice!!!!!!!:giggle:

After reading the whole thread, I noticed that most of the members who posted it and they have problems with dry skin in winter time. It seems most of them live in East US which is probably the main issue. East US tend to have drier air in winter months while in West US, it's very wet air.

I rarely have problems with dry skin anyway.

My Worst nightmare when an itch on my back :ugh: But Seem Helpful with Cococ/Butter Cream!! :):):)
