Fair enough. I suppose I compare against what I previously heard with hearing aids while the CI user your husband met compared it against his sensitive natural hearing. What sounds good to me sounds bad to him. It shows that "hearing" is very relative and the benefit is very much user perceived.

PS I asked my husband tonight if he could hear spiders walk and he said "no". I guess some hearing people must have very sensitive hearing and I guess you can understand why Liebling's friend was disappointed if his hearing was that good originally. It would be expecting too much of a CI to be able to hear that, I think.

LMAO R2 if I knew how I would post a pic of a mouse for ya! hehehe. My hubby owns rats and his one rat had babies, maybe I can post pics of those later? hehe

Unfortunately, his mommy rat died a few days ago, she somehow found a way of getting out of her large aquarium and jumped on the bed and while trying to jump off the bed she hit the bed frame and well you can imagine from there.

So now we have built them another cage making it impossible for them to get out but still able for us to get in and feed and water them and remove them to the aquarium for changing the bedding. Felt so bad for that mommy rat though.

LOL R2 about your hubby, I never could understand how you Aussie's could live over there with all those poisonous things. And to think if you had just stuck your hand in that mailbox, you would have definitely needed medical help ASAP.

While to most people spiders are not to be feared, in my opinion they need to be at least respected. Because yeah, something that little can do a whole lot of damage.

LOL, this thread needs to get back on topic. Otherwise we need to create a spider thread. HEHE

EWWWWWWWW i hate spiders very arachnaphobic!and im allergic to spider bites..not sure exactly what it is that i'm allergic to but something in their spit i think or something like that lol...but when i was hearing i didnt ever hear spiders walking..:ugh3:not that i got close enuf to hear them anyways lol but flies are really annoying..but now that im hoh im happy that now i dont hear big noises that much nemore lol
 
Rats and spiders? Oh, me.. I'm outta here. :eek: :iough: This is on my birthday too. :P
 
But the spiders are VERY beneficial - I am scared of them too, but I love them! I had two, even three huge garden spiders on my patio - the brownish greyish with a delicate white "cross" on the back - and gosh, how many flies did they caught! and many smaller other spiders variety kept my garden clean form pests ( and so did the wasps)

not to mention that the poison some spiders produce are showing promise at being made into painkiller a lot - A LOT more powerful than morphine yet not addictive!
which should be interesting to anyone who lives with chronic pain..

ughh no problem Fuzzy this topic went off topic quite a few posts ago. But as for them being around me no thanks! When one truly suffers from Arachnophobia even the tiniest spider sets off your fear.


Srsoars I fully agree about wondering off into your own little world. There are times when I get so engrossed into listening to something I forget completely about making sure I register other sounds. *such as my daughter calling me*. But I think this may be true for the hearing population as well and just is more noticeable among us CI users?

The biggest annoyance I have had with my CI so far is getting it caught in my hair which happen almost all the time with my long thick hair.

Try the tropical capes just north of Cairns, Australia, I've seen some pretty big swamp dwellers! (I visited a friend who is part of a U.S. Naval adviser group to train Australian pilots on the F-18E)

I went to Australia with my family in winter 2000. Yes, I have seen big black with yellow stripe spider stays between corner and ceiling of Opal's garage...

Something similar like that... I don't know the name... I hope Aussies correct the name when they see the similar description I give here.

Liebling did you have to go and post that? Grr you! I think it is time we create a seperate spider thread! And keep it out of my thread! Geez you guys are gonna give me freaking nightmares! No kidding!

I never have those types of nightmares such as falling or whatever, but my nightmares are always about spiders surrounding me. Its bad enough I am paranoid of them, dont go making it worse lol!

Now can we get back to the topic pls? And besides the spiders in this topic are driving everyone away fron it.
