Air out your dirty laundry secrets

If you want your clothes looking finely pressed and crisp longer you should NOT wash jeans and towels with everything else. The friction of jeans rubbing against your shirts tends to stretch and wear them out faster. You can however put your jeans and towels together in the same load without a problem, and you should turn your jeans inside out to preserve the dark wash in them, otherwise it will fade out after 3-4 washes.

i didn't know that.

I wash whites in hot water with Tide and OxiClean. Oxiclean is great with colors too as a cleaning booster. Colors are washed in cold water and I try to turn nice things inside out to prevent damage and fading.

I use high-quality laundry soap and fabric softener when washing my blankets. The one I use has a lavender & vanilla smell to it. :)

For the rest of my clothes, I use regular laundry soap. :)

I don' t have any laundry secrets. I don't like it bec I live in an apt its a hassel to carry my stuff to and from the facility on grounds here. If I had my own wash/dryer fine, just put the clothes in at anytime of the day. Since, I have to wash public washing facility , I spray Lysol inside the machine its a tip my mom gave me while I was in college doing laundry.

put my clothes in washer [cold/cold], pour out from Purex or Woolite, then wash...

after that, take clothes out and put in dryer and throw some bounces in it. lalala...then take them out and put 'em on the couch and fold 'em up.

put 'em away at drawers, closets, and blah blah..

i've never thought about spraying lysol inside a washing machine, but i like that idea and am going to do that myself.

I try to wash 2 times a week because the basket get overflow in few days!!! :eek3: Just three of us?! I was like :hmm: LOL!

I wash towels, dish towels, bathroom floor mats, and sheet together (sometimes if washer is full, then I'll take sheets out)

dark/med go together

whites go with towels

So I don't have problem.

I wanted a newest washer/dryer but I'll wait $$ permit first.

I hate doing laundry. UGH! Wash, fold, put them away/hang up etc. Pain in ass!

I know that throwing the clothes together isnt good for them but my life is sooo busy and I am just too tired to expend the energy on that. I just have a hard time finding the time lately to be able to do that with my laundry. I used to do all that...I probably need a laundry basket sorter agian. LOL!
You could cut down on laundry time by having your oldest kid be responsible for their own laundry. Its one less load you'll have to do and that's how my brother and I were raised. By the time we were in Junior high, we were required to wash our own laundry. If it didn't get washed, it was our own fault. My brother and I were also responsible for washing dishes, we would alternate nights loading the dishwasher. We weren't enslaved by no means, but it did help my parents some especially when they were working full-time and they wouldn't have to take care of EVERYTHING when my brother and I were capable enough to help out a bit. Of course at the time I didn't like it, but after having to EVERYTHING on top of a full-time job and taking care of an infant with my ex-husband that flat refused to help out, I learned to appreciate it. If your kids groan about having to do one chore, simply tell them they will be responsible for all chores for a week. They'll learn to just shut up and do the one chore and go on about their teenaged lives, lol.
