Deaf people can do anything except to hear..

I am kinda disagree with this because I dont believe deaf people can do anything..

If you disagree with me..

1) then go ahead pick up the phone and talk to 911 (without VP or relay) can you do it? not really..

2) turn radio and listen to music (without lyrics) can you do it? not really..

3) go to theater to watch movies (most of theaters dont have CC for you to understand the movies) Can you understand what actors in the movies are saying? not really..

4) Military jobs.. it require to hear things or you'll die because enemies are trying to make sound-less so they can kill us.. Can you hear their low sound noise?.. not really..

5) And alot more.. dont want to list them all because you get my point.

And yet, I'm not saying being deaf sucks.. I'm deaf and I'm fine with that..

I know there are many things that hearing ppl cant do anything like deaf ppl do.. such as free to call (vp), dont have to listen to noises when working or whatsoever.. you get the ideas..

EDIT: btw, I'm 100 percent deaf.. (not able to hear little low sound.. )
 
I'm deaf and I can call 911, I can understand music, actors in the theater without OC or CC, but not the army.

I know some can listen to phone or else.. but other things.. cant.. so that's why I disagree with "anything" from the quote
 
But the statement is qualified by "Deaf can do anything except hear." The points you listed are all things that require hearing. So the statement is very accurate.

The point is, can you call 911 without hearing? Yes you can. You just have to use accommodations that bypass the need for hearing.

Can you enjoy a movie in a theatre? Yes you can. You just have to use captioning to bypass the need to hear spoken words.

Can you communicate across distances by using a phone? Yes you can. You just have to use relay or text that bypasses the need to hear spoken words.

A deaf person can do anything a hearing person relies on their hearing to do. They simply do it in a different way. That doesn't mean they can't do it. It just means they need an accommodation that allows them to do the same thing in a different way.

the deaf can be willing soliders, im sure too but the government sees that a bit differently unfortunatly.

Yeah, it's kind of a double-edged sword, ain't it? Here, on the one hand, we talk about being able to do anything but hear. Potential long-winded reply short: We accept a lot of special considerations that run the gamut of services, etc. Some of them are passed into law which we do not refuse; a lot of them are indeed critical in our lives. So if we continue hollering that we are not disabled, then maybe, in this economic crisis and others to come, they will just excise all those goodies from budgets everywhere, huh? Lol....

That used to be the case and yes, I have been called that when I was in school. If they ("professionals") call us that, they'd best check and see how much money they have in their bank accounts, as it would be professional suicide for them to say that, in so many words.

Deaf can't join to military because of hearing. Must be 140 percent hearing and sighted 20/20 very well. I did ask my dad if deaf can join to Military. He said can't because can't hear. I asked to my husband. He is same as my dad's said. It's same opinions.
