I have noticed that poll vote will end at January 20, 2005 and we have to active for getting together. I just read many people want to getting together in MN because of central. I just poped my mind, someone planned to take OnlineBash at St Louis and never hear from him again. He said St Louis is central. Now, DD planned to take action for hosting at St Louis but you guys wanting to meet at MN then we need a HOST, not DD because she not know much about MN and not want to take over HOST for it. Only in St Louis, if you want to take over in somewhere then let anyone knows before January 20, this year. Let's work on it. Thanks

Good Point is HOSTING at any places.

The list of example what I found at flight online in internet

Flight return ticket for 7 days from Germany cost:

1. LA - €514.48 = $682.79

2. NYC - €423.45 = $561.90

3. Boston - €446.85 = $592.95

4. Minnesota - ????? Not found. I´ll check with Travel Agency

5. St. Louis - ????? Not found.

Anyway, I will give Travel Agency the list of suggestion with prices to compare with online prices.

I will respect you if you prefer somewhere than Eastern sides. I will start to save up if you want central or western BUT I cant promise that I will be there in 1996, maybe in 1997?

First of all, create a new thread with poll to choose which places, who is hosting, how long will we stay etc then............

I´m curious how much flight from England, Norway etc to USA cost?

I'm using travel.yahoo.com, wideroe.no, and nor-way.no to find these prices. They may vary.

$449+ roundtrip from western coast of Norway to NYC between now and Dec 2005, not including some 50 dollars round trip bus fares from my smallish hicky town to where the airport is. Nothing is shown beyond Dec 2005. This is for one person. Double that if you throw my husband in this mix. :)

$575+ roundtrip from western coast of Norway to Boston, MA for one person.

$837+ roundtrip from western coast of Norway to San Francisco.

$950+ roundtrip from western co of No to Hawaii.

$800+ roundtrip from western coast of Norway to St Louis, MO (similar cost flying from BWI to Hawaii).

$700+ roundtrip from western coast of NO to St Paul, Minnesota (including domestic flight needed to fly from western to eastern where Oslo is, and all international flights are made).

$700+ roundtrip from western coast of NO to Los Angeles (including bus/or extra domestic flight in Norway).

$819+ roundtrip to Omaha, Nebraska from NO (including bus fare

$600+ roundtrip to Baltimore, MD (including bus fare).

I hope that has helped shed some light. :)

Wow! That gotta suck for both of you Liza and Liebling:))) living out of United States and arriving to United States costing you tons of money too.

If you do not mind my better judgment whatever choice members make either it would be in the central or eastern How would u both feel about traveling with someone from a State that is cheaper for you both to arrived at like, NYC for example, You could ride with those who lives in New York it just a suggestion. How would you both feel about that? ;)

Feel free to say how you both feel. :grouphug:

:edit typo: I said "easter instead of eastern" LOL!

1) Big vote for St. Louis here. I can help host, St. Louis is my front yard. I'm actually in Maryland Heights, for those who know the STL area.

2) Lots of stuff to do, cheap stuff to do, and plenty of events happening -- if we can coincide with another event, like a conference for technology or a Deaf Awareness sports night (St. Louis Cardinals, St. Louis Blues, or St. Louis Rams) then there'll be an even bigger group to hang out with outside of the "AD convention" group.

3) Unfortunately, mid-America locations will pretty much exclude non-North America international travelers. Canadian, Mexican, and caribbean region travellers will have no problems reaching St. Louis.

4) Airfare: St. Louis airport (airport code STL) is a HUB for American Airlines and Southwest Airlines. If you look at those two airlines, you probably will find the cheapest fares through them. However, there are a lot of other airlines that fly through here so shop around. International travellers, if you make a stopover at another major U.S. airport, you will probably have to switch airlines to another carrier to get the final leg to St. Louis. I don't see a lot of flights from Europe or the Far East to St. Louis.

5) One positive thing about Minneapolis, MN (airport code: MPS) is that it is THE hub for Northwest Airlines. When flying through there, I've met people with flights as far away as Japan, so international travel should be easier, in my opinion. Overall, though, I think a MPS meet will be a pain in the butt to coordinate and execute.

That's my 8.245 cents! (inflated with interest)

I found it!

After digging through the spikes on my head, I found it!

8 yrs ago we had a chatroom in the Effnet network called #deaf and we had lot of folks in it and we'd meet and eat at Chevys or some restaurant near CSUN every few weeks. It was quite an interesting experience back then. Unfortunately 'Fasty' and his knight 'Savant' were too immature to hold the chatroom together so it kinda faded out. I remember Zolar, Railman, Zebah, Login, Artus (rest his soul), Itsnotme, Hierarchy, Amybear, Busin7, Umbra, Firefight, T3, Rigel, Stardusty, and many more and even some of those nicknames are folks in AD as well. Dont bite me if I dont remember any names of the AD'ers who were on that chatroom.

All in all it's a good idea to see the faces behind those nicknames.

Lets have one on the east coast, another in central america and another one here near CSUN!

Richard

Since there's more votes in the favor of St. Louis and no one else had suggestion of creating another poll for the others, and haven't heard anything since then, if this is going to happen in the year of 2006, then we better start something....I also think DD would do a great job hosting this events....

Anyone care to say anything more about this, please do so....

Edit: I forgot to add that there will always be more of the AD events later on in the future..

I agree... St. Louis has high votes and DD is willing to host, who would host the other places if nobody is going to?? so I still am sticking with st. louis.

Yeah, nobody create a new thread with poll for list like what I suggest at my earlier post. :ugh2:

It´s okay when everyone are for St. Louis and meet in 2006 since DD created her thread.

Nobody are interesting to hosting other place except DD. I understand you all because of cheap hotel, etc.

1. Well, if I create a new thread with poll and let anyone elect which places BUT who is hosting if anyone are for Eastern side? (Example about NYC).

2. I would love to hosting but I´m not an American and didnt know anything about your country.

3. I only create a thread with poll if anyone are willing to be hosting in different places, that´s why I´m waiting. All what I saw here is only DD who is happy to be hosting in St. Louis because she knows alot about St.Louis, not Eastern side.

I cant do anything if nobody are willing to be hosting in any places but St. Louis.

i will make a new poll then and see what everyone wants .. i also will do the research on every cities for sightseeing plus some hotels... give me some time to do that... :)

ill do my best to get all information you all will need.

P.S. I hope u guys dont mind me stepping in. :)

Bearing this in mind, since DreamDeaf came up with the idea of getting Alldeaf members together, offering to be the 'hostess' of the city, St. Louis...and when she created this thread with a poll attached, as of this moment, it shows that most members have voted for St. Louis, Missouri as the event for AD...I'm aware that this poll does have a few more days left for others to vote before this poll is closed....

The point I'm getting at is for what DreamDeaf did mentioned in one of her posts: post #120 ...in this post, she has indicated that she not only has a good track record of starting and seeing through this, but have shown a great deal of determination on her part for making all of this take place for the benefit and well-being of AD'ers who would like to have this sort of event...Also, another member Dennis has offered to help in any way as well and imo, I feel that the two of them could work together and really make this a truly wonderful experience for all those who are able to make it to this event! I've seen other members who are willingly to help out in ways as well, and for those who don't live within the greater St. Louis area, perhaps these other members can contact the 'Hostess & Host' and seek what help that they might be able to contribute....

Without having to create any more polls or suggestions that have been mentioned throughout this thread, I believe it would be in the best interest for us all to make St. Louis the place for Alldeaf members to meet...there's always another time and place later where we can meet also....

So....I'm not making this post like if I am making the decisions for all of us here, but looking at the poll and the many comments and suggestions by members here, rather than keeping this going on and on about this event, I think it's TIME now to 'act' and make St. Louis our priority and the place/event where members of Alldeaf will meet!

Before I end here, *tips my hat off to DreamDeaf for her good intentions and being so thoughtful!!* :applause:  (now now, as for those of you who know that she oftens sends me to the closet, here I goooo...c' ya around!)

--Thank you!!

Well said Roadrunner, I think you are correct also, I think St. Louis is our priority because of the poll.

I also agree that DreamDeaf would creat a good get together alldeaf meeting along with Dennis who offer to help also. Sounds good to me too. ;)

Hope that other Countries out of United States would be able to join us also. :fingersx:
