A Thread About Absolutely Nothing! Part III

I have never been asked for an "age card" in Macs/Toronto to buy 4L bag of 1% milk. Nor in buying food in Sobeys/Loblaws/Foodland/ Metro/No Frill/ Price Chopper / Basic Foods/Dollarama. Required in other provinces-no idea.

I sent my right aid off to be repaired about a week ago, its amazing how little benefited from it, almost considering not using it anymore...Hmmmmm....

Is it normal for new ASL users to get flustered and nervous and misspell their name when fingerspelling it out?

Oh yes. Used to struggle with fingerspelling for a while.

It was understanding that "age cards" are required only for buying tobacco products/alcohol- thus not required for say buying milk/food etc.
I was never asked for an "age card" in Canadian Tire either.
My experience in Ontario-true in other provinces?

That's because those items are not age restricted. Try buying a pack of cigarettes and see what happens.

whoa. 6:30am. just got home 30 min ago. finally checked out new casino we have in NYC. saw a lady won $5g from slot machine. cool.

Gee: I passed 70 a few years ago, thus not unduly excited whether I still look under 19. That is the age here in Ontario for "age cards". Mentioned to my oldest son-almost 40 that I look under 19. Swimming does help one look "younger" except of course of getting Old Age Security here in Canada. One must be 65 till the year 2023 to receive. Then will be 67.
The above has nothing to do withe the use of ASL/LSQ.

Our word for the day is babe. Mio amor and me are calling each other babe :)

I just can't seem to get anything done that I plan to do anymore. I am addicted to my books all of a sudden. I was planning on doing some hand washing of delicates and mending.

It's ok to not do things you'd plan to do and get lost in a book. As long as it doesn't become a habit or you don't take of necessities.

Well - this series of books has been very habit forming for me. There must be easily 10 or more for this one. It's a vampire type series. Checked out another 25 books yesterday at the library. Add those to the 2-3 I still have here at home that were recently sent from a family member and I will be busy for a while.

so I went to Dallas last Thursday till Sunday for conference. I had a really great time there. made a bunch of friends. all are hardworking professionals with inspiring wisdoms and work principles. You have already seen their works on daily basis without noticing it.

a funny story about "small world" - I emailed Brian - the host of the conference that I would be needing an accommodation. He replied back and said that it's already been arranged but he will hire more interpreters for me. That was when I knew there would be a deafie there. When I arrived there, he had C.A.R.T. service and 4-6 interpreters ready to go. He introduced me to a deaf woman and it turned out that she lives in NYC and is familiar with my work. She even knew my colleague! small world! She gave a speech there about accessibility such as captioning videos, text description of pictures for blind people, etc. Poor gal was nervous and had a tiny mishap during lecture. I'll be seeing her again at another conference this weekend in NYC so I'll give her some pointers in giving a talk. I love doing it.

I invited her along to meet up with PowerOn, his friend and gf for dinner. We had a really good time and then it was time to go since it was midnight and PowerOn had a long drive home. She and I would like to continue chatting so we went to lobby-bar area. There was a couple of guys at this table. Turned out that this guy gave a speech there too and Timmy was leaving for home in Boston at same time as me. and then it turned out that we have same flight..... and same seating row. So we had a chat and he told me that he has designed stuff for Dunkin' Donut (menu on the wall), Coca Cola, Chrysler, Olympus, Timberland, etc. We're same age too. another small world.

other than that... I really enjoyed my time in Dallas. I like it there very much and it would be a very easy decision for me to make if somebody's got a job offer for me there..... assuming that salary is very nice
