5.5, wow, that's a pretty good jolt; wondering about Banjo now......also wondering about the building codes in that epicenter.....
Yep, felt it!

We live in an earthquake area on the East coast but I've never heard of any of the schools holding earthquake drills. They did debate closing a couple of the older schools because their buildings aren't constructed to earthquake resistant standards.
Everything OK?Yep, felt it!
Wow, that's quite different from here. While I was still there, california schools do practice earthquake drills at least every other month for K-12. On real earthquake days, it is a free 1-2 hours recess outside until the teachers say it's ok to go back in.
my kids schools will be over by this friday. today tomorrow and friday will be only half day. My kids are with the in laws after half day at school today.how bad is it? 5 seconds or more?![]()
Everything OK?
Hit Ohio too, but no damage. I didn't even feel it.
I found out that they do have a plan but I've never heard of anyone doing the drills.Wow, that's quite different from here. Lasted around 15 seconds or so. I was at work when it happened. At first, the computer chair felt as if it was being rocked a bit. Then the computer monitor, the desk, everything started shaking. It was like being on a J-ELLO or an unstable ship.
It's just a weird experience to go through with. It was a very unsettling feeling though!

unsettling??? I think it's cool to experience it. I want to experience all kinds of Mother Nature's fury before I die.

haha i don't know if it's coool! but i am glad to get a taste of the earthquake but i agree with banjo. it was a unsettling feeling when you did not expect to it. :P
We don't experience it much.
Right, it was somewhat exciting to experience it. However, slightly unsettling at the same time because I wasn't sure what to expect.
Earthquakes can be unpredictable.
Just live here for a year. Go to the red zones if you want.
You'll get used to it so much that it's just another "oh earthquake" facebook update. Can count on checking other sources when it's an quake, because everyone posts about it always.![]()
so sad! so far... I've experienced hurricane (but not like Florida) and flood. My dad's done live volcano.
