Read on!

Did I said nobody is going to come up and help?

Point here that many don't get it and I find many of them are just plain ignorant. Sometimes, your just SOL and have to do whatever it takes in the event getting help in timely manner is impossible.

If my friend gets hurt and the waiting for help is more than an hour, what me do? Nothing is what you suggested? How ignorant!

We all can't expect that we get help and be saved every time, this is too unrealistic.

Have a good night.

and not gonna continue to argue with someone who have no knowledge of rescue stuff we have for that kind of scenario. you can't even answer my hypothetical question. are you seriously telling me that NOBODY is gonna come rescue your friend in middle of nowhere if you drove to the nearest civilization for help?

better look up SAR.

huh? I've never said that. It's what YOU suggested, you silly one.

So I ask you this once again - who will come rescue your friend once you've found a nearest town for help?

We all can't expect that we get help and be saved every time, this is too unrealistic.
right. I believe that's what I've said several times in this thread but you are being quite vague and avoidant about a few things.

Have a good night.

Perhaps I should have take you to middle of Amazon around 5PM local time and drop you off from plane, to see if you can manage to get out alive.

why don't you join me?

sounds like you're very experienced Amazon survivorman. I could use your help. oh wait... you're saying you've done it before?

With no equipments, no thanks. You can go on your own and have fun.

My point is, which I stand, we can't be too dependent on technology. It won't always be there. Best thinking is BE PREPARED and EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED.

Emergency responders don't always show up in timely manner, that's unexpected so therefore expect that to happen at some point.

For instance, calling 911 and no response, what are you gonna to do? Sit and do nothing? Thats plain stupidity and ignorant. There is always way around whenever shyt happens.

why don't you join me?

And you forgot, I grew up while "911" was unheard of until I entered high school. I managed to be fine without 911.

Until I got into 30'sh, there was no wireless phone that comes with 911 and GPS built in, and I survived though.

Those who born 90's and later were very spoiled and too dependent on technology.

huh? a huge contradiction to your previous post -

tsk... I guess you're spoiled and too dependent on technology as well.....

aw what's the matter? all these big tough talk and you dunno how to do first aids?

My point is, which I stand, we can't be too dependent on technology.
I'm not. all my experiences with nature is near-zero technology unless you want to count headlamp and wristwatch as technology

I don't even have a handheld GPS for hiking and I dunno how to use it. I don't trust it either. all I use is compass, sun, and map. works fine for me for past 10 years :cool2:

hmm.... sounds like a contradiction to your first sentence.

right but that doesn't answer my hypothetical question.

who will come rescue your injured friend if you found a nearest town for help?

Are you suggested that nobody died while trying to call for help?

There are number of people trying to call for help and passed away, even with today's technology.

See? rescuers are trying to locate missing victims and struggling find them.

Those who went missing and got injured, what are they going to do? Wait for rescuers show up? Their 911 available?

My point is sometimes we got to take care of ourselves while help is coming, and "Never" can happen. Being dead by the time somebody show up does not count. 8 already died, too late to get help. Sad!

Death toll in Colorado flooding rises to 8 as rescue crews scour rubble in search for missing | Fox News

Check that paragraph

Residents were encouraged to use white sheets, reflective mirrors, flares and signal fires to attract the attentions of the pilots and told to have a bag of medications, clothes, and other important items ready for when help arrived.

Eh, they encourage use of old school method seeking for help! Not even mention calling 911. See, have to wait for helicopter to hoover around you then you hopefully catch their attention.

that's not what I asked. I guess I'll have to move on since you're obviously evading my hypothetical question.

...and it is assumed that when people go to remote areas - they do have basic medical training. if you're smart enough to carry a weapon with you because of wild animals... then you should be smart enough to carry some first aids kit as well as receive basic medical training.
Some remote areas (on government land, such as parks) don't allow guns (just sayin').

Who is assuming that people in remote areas have basic medical training? It's a good idea but I certainly wouldn't assume that.

In middle of nowhere! I had blast time up there. There was sign up there that your on own once you past that point.
That reminds me of a trip I made in Ecuador. We were hiking up a mountain when our native guide pointed to a spear stuck in a tree. It was essentially a "sign" indicating that going beyond that point was risky--it marked Auca Indian territory. Our guide refused to go further (so did we).
