Boy was ‘proud to have copped his first hit’ from baby boa, mom says

NEW YORK - The 4-year-old son of “Crocodile Hunter” Steve Irwin wasn’t at all alarmed when he was recently bitten by a baby boa constrictor, according to his mother.

“He picked one of them up and it bit him on the finger, and he was so proud to have copped his first hit,” Irwin’s widow, Terri, said Monday at an appearance at FAO Schwarz with her two children to promote a new line of toys.

“He said, ’I hope it wasn’t venomous,’ so I assured Robert I wouldn’t actually let him play with venomous snakes,” she added.

Terri Irwin said the couple’s 9-year-old daughter, Bindi, was first bitten by a snake when she was 18 months old.

The girl, who is featured in the Discovery Kids Channel show “Bindi the Jungle Girl,” posed for cameras with a new action figure in her likeness.

“It’s every little girl’s dream to have an exact look-alike doll. It’s amazing,” said Bindi, who was signing action figure toys of her late father.

Steve Irwin, known through his nature TV series as a wrangler of crocodiles and snakes, died in 2006 from a stingray’s barbed tail during an underwater documentary shoot. He was 44.

Irwin provoked an international outcry in 2004 after being filmed holding his then 1-month-old son while feeding a snapping crocodile.

Okkk...who's next to 'cop a hit' with a snake?? :lol:

Amazing how these two are coping with wild animals and reptiles--being around parents going out in the wild--hearing the stories, etc., made them mentally tough--. It'll be great to see these two carry on the legacy of their father and I'm sure many is expecting them to do so...hopefully they'll be able to deal with the pressure and scrunity when the 'world' is watching them.

Teri was pregnant when Steve Irwin died.. so she has three children...i cannot remember third was boy or girl...
 
Awww he is so cute and so proud just like his dad! And of course he is brave little boy! He may follow father's footsteps!

I did Googled and I did not find anything about Terri being pregnant with 3rd baby.

I never heard that Terri is pregnant with 3rd baby. She only have 2 kids so far that I know of. They would have said she is pregnant but never hear? so not sure where you get the news?

Aww bet the sight was priceless to see Robert getting bitten by the snake and said Ouch? lol.. hehehe..

Hmm, As far as I know, There has been no mention of Teri having 3rd child. If it were true of her having another child, the world would have known it by now. It would have been noted in various media outlets. Besides that, If she had the baby, it would have already been shown in various photos as well.

I'm curious - Where did you get the source saying that Teri was pregnant when Steve died?
 
Aww, Robert looks so much like his father Steve. It's nice to hear that the children are doing well, glad to know that the snake wasn't venomous. It seems the children are follow their father's footsteps as he taught them the love for animals.. Bindi is most mature 9 year old I've ever seen, and enjoy watching her shows too.

No she has two children, one girl and one boy. I never heard about a 3rd one. I saw her on TV when Steve passed away and she did not look pregnant.

Wow what a brave little boy he is. I am sure Steve would be so proud of him. Right now he is looking down at them and protecting them from the harmful world.

Wow those kids are so close and doing so well.
