Here is an article about the development of captioned HD radio so deaf people can have access to radio. It will also be useful for visually impaired people for reading the news. I hope that it becomes available soon.:fingersx:

Yea that would be great if you have no tv and knowing that there is cancellation school. :D

I don't know if that will work in close caption radio like the T.V. news. Everything is popping up something new and I am going crazy trying the new products. I am getting too old for that. I am going to stay with the close caption T.V. news. Wait and see if that develop a close caption radio. :ugh3:

Cool!! Hey! forgot that newer car or audio system have built in "song title message & radio station name) text scrolling. I thought that they should do the captioning while listening songs! It would be neato if they use that text system to send news and weather report in local area.

Our Jeep with Sirius radio has the song and station text. It's pretty cool. But the driver isn't supposed to read the text while driving.

Not a Liberty. Hubby has a 2006 Commander with Sirius. I have 1995 Cherokee, just AM/FM radio and cassette tape player (at least it's not 8 track).

I can't get HD Radio in Tallahassee, so no Captioned Radio for me. :(

How can visually impaired people read the captions?

Not a very good question to ask unless you are wondering...

Even if I'm visually impaired, I can read text from a Windows Mobile device, but only at very close--something less than 2", but that depends on how small the text is. Plus, I can read text in a 32" HDTV (I now have a new 57" HDTV).

You might ask this question even better: How can someone who is blind can read closed caption?

Well, they can't, unless they have devices with a braille display.
