Have you donate your blood to America Red Cross?

I sure did! Today my first time to donate! I am more than happy to help since here in our area are screaming for more blood to be donated. So at America Red Cross was so busy! I am not sure about bone marrow...I am not sure if they would check and match? :dunno: I ain't a doctor! :giggle: I forgot to ask though! Next time when I go back on November 1st.

Share story with us if you had donate.

NO BS OR BASHING on this thread or you'll be reported! Thank you.

*FAINT*

I will not able to donate blood due to something that not allow underweight, problem with health....illness.

I not know about others, :D

Right...they gave me a list of medication that CANNOT donate blood..so none were matched to mine. Whew.

Other cannot donate is cancer, diabate (SP), HIV/AIDS, and there are few others as well I don't remember.

The guy did a great job get the needle in at one SHOT! (when I had CI surgery, the nurse did a lousy job and that pissed me off lol!)

It took me like maybe 10 to 15 min. Not too bad. And a snack/drink! YUM! :giggle:

I do not believe that.
In my opinion, when someone take out something (blood, liver, heart, eyes, etc.) from my body, and put it to someone else is very disgusting.
Everything in me is mine. No one can have it. :ty:
Yes, I am too selfish about my body, because they make me to live.

I have donated my blood to New Zealand Blood Service once when I was 18 years old. The NZ Blood service visited my high school.

I haven't donated my blood since, but I still got that NZ blood donor card with my details if I ever visit the NZ Blood Service which will be faster than filling out the forms etc.

All I wanted to see the honest answer from you.
It is up to you to answer my question or not.

Are you donating your blood to America Red Cross, because you need some cash?
60% of my friends donated, because they need some money. :ugh3:

In America, it is now illegal to get money from "donated" blood. It used to be that anyone who donate blood gets 50 dollars. That was years ago, not anymore.

It was outlawed because the government found out the hard truth about this, and decided to disallow any momentary income for this.

Yup, I did donate my blood when i was in High School around 1983 to 1984 that time. But ever since, i haven't donate my blood yet! :(

I donated my blood at long time ago.

I don't mind if they ask me to donate my blood.

I used to give blood when I was able, since 1971.

Hubby has been giving blood regularly for about 30 years.

Neither one of us has ever received any money for donating blood.

From the Red Cross website:

"Why doesn't the Red Cross pay its blood donors to increase the blood supply?
Scientific data shows that people who donate blood for altruistic reasons are the safest blood donors. As an extra layer of safety to the blood supply, Red Cross accepts only volunteer blood donors."

I never heard that we get money from donate our blood or whatever... Its about donation to save people's life, not money.

I once wanted to donate blood but got rejected cuz I was skinny then :dunno:

No, they no longer giving out the cash. They give you a points to earn each time and get stuff with your points. I guess they stopped because of drug and alcoholics addicts and homeless too. I don't know what's the real reason they stopped giving out cash. I can find out on my next visit.

BTW, it is your choice not giving blood out.

You can donate at anytime you want..it is up to you.

Some is having a surgery in near future, and get her/his own blood for blood transfusion instead of someone's else blood. That's what my friend did. I would do the same thing if I am having surgery for whatever reason.
