Ryan White!? I never FORGET him! I saved some of the newspapers when he passed away (they are packed somewhere in the boxes and I will make a scrapbook). My heart was wrenched when he passed! I remembered when I was at Clarke when he passed. I learned a lot about AIDS when I was at Clarke and I hope there is a CURE one day. :fingersx: TOUGH I know!

Does anyone remember what city in Indiana basically forced Ryan and his family to move? I think it was Kokomo, if I'm not mistaken.

I remember him and his friendship with Michael Jackson. Which is why I will never believe the charges that MJ was accused of a few years ago.

I was a student at a "Christian" college in suburban Seattle, Washington at the time of his death. Seeing how he was treated by church people in his town made me sick. Still does. Forgive them? Yes! Forget? Never.

Have we truly embraced the ADA since then? What about people whose lives are literally turned upside down due to these debilitating diseases? Homosexuality has NOTHING to do with AIDS.

Hope his mom, Jeanne, and the rest of his family are doing well.

Yeah, I remember Ryan White & hearing abou this story while I was in like junior high. It broke my heart hearing how he was being treated at his school & stuff. I also saw the Ryan White story when they made it into a movie with Scott Baio. I'd watch it again if it was ever on TV again.

prek: You're right, it was in Kokomo, the city the Whites family were forced to move away from. That truly broke my heart. They had to deal with rotten eggs thrown at their house multiple times & all the nasty stuff people had done to the Whites family.

I hope those people in Kokomo regret what they did & have since treated those with AIDS much better.

Yes I never forgot him... he really inspired me so much... seeing him how he went thru everything... my heart hurt for him....

it really hit me so close.. as my dad had AIDS..He died in 1987. It will be 20 years since i Lost him next month- August 13. i remmy when it happened to us.. and how everyone in the community shunned us and gossip that we ALL had it... but only my dad? he got it from Blood transfusion... now those people who didnt talked to us - talked to us again today... so I know how Ryan felt.... :(

During our EMT course - we learned about the Ryan White CARE Act that gave medical personnel the right to know if they have been potentially exposed to HIV/AIDS through an accidental needle stick to themselves. If they have been exposed to certain bodily fluids then they have the right to know if they have been potentially exposed while on the job. This also protects those that have been diagnosed with AIDS/HIV the same way Ryan White was, it keeps them from being fired or discriminated against in any way shape or fashion.

Its amazing what one voice can do to make changes happen.

yep i remember him... he was on news all the time and I felt bad for ryan but he lived to the fullest before he died of AIDS.. :)

I thought so. Hmmm...reminds me...I think...actually pretty sure...I had a delivery in that town once or something like it. I held my breath almost the entire time I was there (overnight). I wasn't impressed with the town and still am not.

I remember seeing a television movie about him... The Ryan White Story. Good show.

You know - I was thinking, If we had not knew anything about Ryan White - We all probably would have still be in the dark about the AIDS/HIV. Sure, We would have learned about it much later on without Ryan's voice but to him, it helped us all opened our eyes and learned from it.

Indeed, The Ryan White story was touching.

This is Lake Tahoe speaking....

Yes I do agreed with you Jolie_77. If it wasn't for him, we will be in dark! YIKES! That's is very scary!! I am so glad he spoke to teach everyone about what AIDS. I do think of him sometimes.

The movie is very touching!!! I cried! I would love to see it again! I forgot when the AIDS month is and maybe the movie will return? :dunno:

Lifetime Movie Channel??

on a more serious note you may try looking it up on Amazon.com. They sometimes carry TV network movies on VHS or DVD.

IT came on CBS I believe but I don't know if they would do repeat on Lifetime. Maybe I can write Email and see if they can repeat this movie again? :dunno:

I would love to see it again!!!

I dont know him. Where i can find Ryan White story?

lifetime has been known to pick up network movies 2-3 years after they air, like the movie "For The Love of Nancy" first aired on ABC, then 3-4 years later I saw it again on Lifetime. It might be worth looking into.

THat's true...same idea with "I know my 1st name is Steven" I now remembered.. you may be right. So I'll send E-mail and see if they can air "Ryan White Story"

I'll like to see it again though! :)

oh yeah, I love that movie and it is very very touching. I have seen the pain of the people going thru this. So much blame game going on and ridicule people who suffered and ungodly judgments ( I am talking directly to extremist christians who misbehaving that way, thinking its godly way, but truthfully, it isnt). I have share many who has been hurting and thinking God wont use them. Like Ryan, he had a great example and some others likewise. It's how to forgive and help others who are seeking. For those who shun those people will face consequences for that. Ryan is full of blessings to awaken people and understand what is going on. May God's comfort be upon the family.

you can thank Jerry falwell for alot of the modern Christian extremist beliefs floating around out there.

Alot of them mean well but are very seriously mis-guided.
