I did called them on relay service and want find stuff at Target but employees are hang up so quickly and called "confused" to me then I was FUCKING pissed off at Target!!!

What I'm doing? :dunno:

Also, I don't blame on operator but it was from employees at Target.

They probably dont understand English. Likely reason, illegal immigrant.

Or they think the relay is a scammer..as some members here stated in other threads that scammers are abusing the relay system..it sucks because it causes many business to get the wrong idea about relay and hang up on actual deaf customers.

When something like this happens, I'd call then again and find what that person name who hang up on me, then I'd go over to that specific store and speak to the management person and ask them what is their policy on customer service then point out on what happened and expect an action to be done.

maybe they think you are spammer or AD marketing. I did happen few times when I call use relay service and alway hang up and ask them redial plz after that again hangup...i said shit what to do. Relay said they hung up. I told person that they think you are spammer. Relay laughed agree so I decide wait other fifteen minutes later call them same numbers finally got them. GRRRRR!!!!!

Or they think the relay is a scammer..

Not really, They think relay is an advertisement, trying to sell them something, I've told by relay operator that some would say "I'm not interested"

I would tell the relay, just tell them "a deaf customer is calling, it's not an advertisement". ;)

If that attempt fail, I'd just call Target directly and try to hear when somebody answer, I'd bang my phone and scream out of my lung and yell help help then hang up to freak the Targeters out lol

Now, Let's hold it up for a minute or two. As it was already mentioned here in AD that many companies tends to think the relay services are telemarketers or coming up with some kind of advertisements. It is understandable that they would have thought you were one of the telemarketers or something like that.

Perhaps, You should have explained yourself a bit clearly and instruct the relay operator that you're calling to inquire about some informations that Target has. Most of the time when you instruct an operator for the relay, they will go by what you instruct them to do. If you didn't, then it'd be natural for Target to think that it was a phone call coming from a telemarketer or else.

I'm saying, Nobody is at fault here. There are still a lot of people out there that are still not aware of how the relay services works. I know, I get myself annoyed when I get hung up while using a relay service but not for a minute, it did not cross my mind that it was the operator's fault or the person on the other end's fault. It just means that we still have to educate them one way or other.

Just my 2 cents. ;)

True, there's some that don't understand relay, but there are other times, they hung up because they don't have the time or patient with relay because it takes up all their time, It had happened to me before, I'll just go up to the store and scream at them for the hung ups and not treating me like the rest of their customers. I've got discounts on my orders and sometimes they charge me nothing. ;)

Maybe they thought target isnt store company that they went said UH OH they think :rl: so want to hung up and scare heheh lol  I guess.

Yeah, it could be for a number of reasons.

I've had the same problem in cities where there is no real deaf community and calls from deaf people are uncommon. They don't fully understand the concept of the relay calls and assume it's an advertisement or market call... which they aren't permitted to take.

Once I was pissed off at this restaurant.. I called them to ask about their hours and they KEPT hanging up on me until I finally told them to STOP f*cking hanging up and that I demanded to talk to the manager... finally got a hold of a manager and told them that I've HAD it with his stupid employees constantly hanging up on me, EVEN with the pre-announcement that it IS an actual deaf patron of the restaurant and he apologized and said that they've had a few calls before that it turned out to be a prank and didn't know that I was an actual customer.. *sigh*

:(

That happens.

Next time, tell the relay operator to announce the calls differently next time he or she calls. I do that sometimes.

When they call, their greeting sounds too professional and almost monotone that anyone would guess it was a marketing call.
