$500,000 offered to buy AllDeaf.com

After reading the post and some of the members replies.. I have a feeling its an April fool's joke. We won't know until Alex post a reply here.

Dude, if its not a joke do seek professional advice and do what you have to do. Your heart is in the right place to pilot AD and you can always start another forum else where. I support whatever you decide that money doesn't appear everyday.

After hearing all of the post and I noticed one thing... Alex haven't made any respond posting to this after he first announced... I'm waiting until after midnight and I knwo it's April fool, nice try Alex!

Yeah, that what I wondered...ummm...:hmm:

Nice try, Alex. I'm betting it's April's fool joke.

Alex, from one business man to another. In my beliefs, I do not like mergers or buyouts. But it is up to you, Alex. Sure a half million dollars sounds great deal but there are factors to considers. Like others in here have a good point and I knew that. Businesses today want to buy out someone else and change name and format or shut it all since they are your main competitors. My business will never be for sale and it will be passed down as promised.

There are factors to think about with half million dollars. Please consult with an accountant/CPA and lawyers with experise in mergers, buyouts, and taxes. Usually with that amount of money, they are ususally in half. You might walk home with just a quarter of a million dollars and rest to lawyers and taxes. If you invest in other things or donations, your taxes will be reduced.

Alex, look into your heart and know what is more important: money or the Deaf Community? If I were you, I would turn down their offer flatly. Alex, wake up and smell the coffee. Alldeaf.com may not be the same after the buyout.

If you want your business to be protected from them, it is called, "White Knight" in business term. That means another business buys a partnership or half of your business and you can scare off that relay service business. What does the relay service has to do with this forum??? That is another factor to think about, man. You should know it may confuse your members here as compared to their business since people will think that relay company that is offering you money for your business is just a relay service.

Hypothecially you sell your business to the relay service, deaf people will more likely just use the relay, not the forum. Like Google is just a search engine, or IBM a computer business. Or FALSO CREATIVITY is a design firm. Google may owns YouTube.com but we all do not think that way. If that relay service drops the domain name or change it to relay, then the deaf might get confused. alldeaf.com has been established as a deaf forum. That other service called Deafchat.com is for chat room and most of us know that for a fact. That is my point here. You have a reputation and a good one to provide us a forum to discuss any issues of the day.

There is another factor they may not said it in here. Deaf people might find out who is that service and may not like that service so they may not want to come back and establish another deaf forum or forums! That could reduce the number of members. It ususally happens in many businesses.

Please think it over or even pray if you have to. I do not know your religion but it doesnt hurt to try! Look over all factors. NOT about the money. OK?

Remember, from a deaf business man to another deaf business man.

Upstat,

You hit all the right notes on that one. Alex would need to think about how this buyout will more or less benefit Alex in long term.

For example: Remember Penn Can Mall? Remember it was thriving under Eagan Properties, Inc. in the 1970's through the 1980's until they sold it to Wilmorite Properties only because they thought Wilmorite would do a better job with the mall but look what happened! It went under! This is a good analogy I can think of for you, UpstatNYDesigner to understand.

With that said, I hope Alex considers how this will benefit him so what happened to Penn Can Mall not happen to alldeaf.com

Nice try, Alex. I'm betting it's April's fool joke.

I’m leaning that way too. Think about it—the primary reason for buying a message board is advertising revenue. Wouldn’t it be far more cost-effective to simply purchase all the available advertising space on an existing message board than to purchase the board itself?

2 things!

First of all if it is true of what Alex said, if I were in his shoes, I would not take it at all even that much would be great but no cuz I hate greedy...I would rather not to take it if I was Alex's shoes...but that is up to him actually!

Sceond: Could be very well be April's Fools!!!!!!!!!! That is my bet! LOL

I am not worried about that. Alex can create another forum website with a different name. VodkaBoulevard mentioned a website's name. If he receives his money, he could buy a house and a new car with no mortgage. That would be nice. If it is a joke, then it's too bad.

admin guy who likes to wear pink polo tee can always fantasize. I would recommend for him to split some monies, and do the stock at the stock markets. it's going to make him a king, then he would be able to afford and pay off the mansion house with F1 car.

if it's a joke, what better he can wish for? :X

Don't sell your website. Wait until you are over 50 years old and then, you can sell. That's like other workers, they have to work until they become retire at the age of 60 or 65 years before they can receive their pension. Just take your time and follow your heart. Be wise. :)

Ah, yes, it was an April Fool's Day joke. So I'm guilty as charged!! :giggle:

Most of you knew this was coming, so I though if I do this prank a few days before April 1st, all of you would fall for it. But, boy, did I think wrong. You guys are good!
