Copy/Paste of IM Messages

I wasnt here yesterday because of a bad migraine headache, otherwise I would have posted that here.

Lately, there seems to be a epemedic of copying and pasting certain areas of IM messages in private IM and chat messages and forwarding them to other people.

Now, I happen to think that is a pretty bad practice to do and it also causes misunderstandings - I've always felt that those who do selective copying and pasting of certain statements and forwarding them to others are just looking to stir up trouble between people and that they really, really enjoy doing that.

I mean those who are talking to someone about someone else, and that person copies and pastes certain sentences and maybe change a few words here and there, and then forwards to the person being talked about.

Hoo-wah! Hell breaks loose!!!

Now the person, who stirred up the can of worms and started the whole thing, can sit back and watch the fireworks happen... which is what he/she wanted in the first place.

How do you feel about this sort of behavior?

Personally, I think this stinks to high heaven. BIG TIME. I'm already the victim of one of those "innocent remarks." Thank goodness my friend knows me better than that - she told me exactly what happened and we talked about it - there were no problems at all. She knew where I was coming from, and I knew about her concerns about this matter. I have NO pity for the people that do this sort of thing ~ they seem to enjoy doing this, for entertainment and to break up friendships - they are ... people that have no regard at all. For me, I'd throw them in the Ol' Muddy Miss and let the undertow take them away.

Isn't it better to face the person you have a problem with and talk heart-to-heart or just leave it alone?

In the short span of time of a week, I've seen this happen ... four times? I've already lost count.

I'd like an open, honest discussion on this - please, no flaming, no harrassment, no scathing remarks or comments. Just jot down how you feel about this kind of behavior.

Wow, I think it's stinks big time, and those who copies and pastes certain sentences and change a few words and then forward to the person being talked about is dishonestly and wrong...Whoever doing that must love to stir up trouble and cause dramas or trying to earn a pity party, I :dunno:

Just have to be careful who you talk to I guess....I don't trust alot of people, even those who question me about something, I say something short and simple, and if theres more question being asked, I just simple ignore the IM or try to change the subject...
 
Ive been there done that too. I just sometimes wish that we dont have copy and paste buttons then we wont have to worry abt being backstabbing or changing the conversation at the im.

I had to tell them the straight story till they realized I was telling the truth. It was so hard to get it straight or clean up the mess.

Trust is the one that I and everyone have plm with. Whenever this person did then she or he lose my trust for good and it was hard to rebuild it all over again.

All we need is Peace!!
 
yeah also, what a lot of people don't understand is when you ccp something to send to someone. Before that someone gets that message they can edit it & add or take out something that could be the difference of what the message is actually saying to who or about whoever.

I know you feeling and feel alike ugh, not again.. what become to change twisted or trying to cover up their breath *ersaer and change wording* copy n paste to next people will come more *ersaer* (sp) damn it! anyway
Will come worst and wrong direct pointing finger..

Out there millions people are do that..

I really disagree people create twisting the stories.. where frigg'n respect ?
 
It had happened to me, someone send me a copy and paste what was being said about me behind my back, Only see that people can really talk too much, don't have anything better to do than just gossiping about someone. There are three sides to every story, this person's side, my side, and the truth. I don't really have the time of the day to explain anything to a third party, I rather this other person who been backstabbing me, to talk to me directly not through a third party. If I had an issue with anyone, I am the person who would go to their face, and expressed how I feel just like that. I'm not scared to. I can be really blunt when someone want a pieces of my ass. I don't understand people sometimes who cannot be honest with people that they have problems with. How are they suppose to know that they're mad at you when they go to another person and start gossiping. It's okay to vent out to a friend just get everything off of your chest, but stick with the truth the real story, not a make up story, because it look more ugly with the make up story, and it can only backfire right at the person. :X
 
Yeah, I agree. There are lot of sickos doing that in these days!

I wish it has automatically "forwarding" button send to other person through IM. It has time but no date which is sucks. We need to have common sense and read our friends or anyone's language carefully before we decide whether if it's true or not.
 
True on alot of that I agree...But one problem is with that 3rd party...How do you know their telling you the truth & not exaggerating the story? Also the 3rd party could be telling the other person thats talking about you different things to stir the fire even more back 'n' forth. So then ya gotta ask yourself?.?..Who's really lying?

The way I see things WTF cares?
I don't understand why people get so upset when someone is talking behind whoever's back. Rather its lies & bullcrap or not. If they can't say it directly to me then that's their problem. Its no sweat off my back. Because I could care less because theres more important things to worry about then people talking smack about me behind my back. Once again I just plain don't care..

If people what to talk about me? GO for it.....WHY??

JLF - because of what has happened... someone got into hot water because of that very same thing - the person c/p messages and got it all out of context, then forwarded to another person... then that person who got the forwarded message confronted the person whose messages had been c/p ~ Im telling you, things got really UGLY in that. It turned out that someone did c/p and kind of changed the whole thing around, and then forwarded - it looks like that person did really want to cause problems between those two people ~ and they already had enough problems with each other. They didn't need this on top of what was going on between them.

Now, I know that the person who started this may have done it innocently, but I'm kind of skeptic about that - I mean, that person ALREADY knows about the problems... it was just adding fuel to the wildfire.

I do know that the person who did this will never be trusted again.

Why do people have to make crap personal? If someone doesn't like your opinion, so what? What's the big deal????

If you say something in a thread like....

" I hate broccoli." And, I happen to LOVE IT, and disagree with your statement. .... Does that give me the right to take your statement, copy it, send it to "Sally", and say... "DD said she hates broccoli, and she's never growing it again!" NO, it doesn't.

This is sort of a silly analogy, but it proves the point about what I'm making as I understand the problem....

Simply put, if you don't like someone's opinion on here, tough noogies!! Its an OPINION!! Deal with it and move on, and for the love of God, don't make it personal!

Too many people seem to get hurt this way!
 
True I agree with this.. Sometime it's can cause misunderstanding between them..or Try look for RUIN FREINDSHIP which not worth to cop/paste message send to whoever person's imz which they not need to know what going on between 2 ppl or 3 ppl which invole. but only way SHULD is only PRIVATE imz cuz it's can make you look bad or feel hurt or lost true friendship... only way need keep copy and paste message out as long ppl will not know what going on That why i don't intz whoever try copy/paste message to me which not need to know i rather keep middle OUT and only let between them PLM SOLVE or try WORK OUT but not alway try stright out also Backstabbing is BORING to me. I wish ppl shuld think twice before someone will get HURT or lost true friendship for that.

Just wanna try understand there reason ;)

everyone are different.. no one two are ALIKE. i agree with you on that, galaxyangel.. its just opinions.. the way we were raised and our beliefs. no need to disagreed with us on that.. just remember we all are different individuals. :)

accept the way WE ARE! if you dont like it then TUFF shit! :)

Well, you have to remember that there's always " what goes around comes around " or " what goes up comes down ". So, don't let that " worry " eat you alive. Just let it go as if, nothin' happens. Don't even think about it and do what you want to do in your life that you mostly enjoy. You have your wonderful girl in your life, right ? Ok, then tell her to take you to some places where there's always pleasant. Or buy yourself somethin' such as pamperin' yourself. :)

Those copy and paste thing don't kill you.
 
That is another form of rumor because they would copy and paste someone's IM and change the text to spoof someone that it might be true or not. I believe majority of them isn't true because it's not always proven a fact or not.

My question is did you read their copy and paste message on AIM? My question is do you really know the whole story?

I will be very careful if I were you...not to judge so quickly about third party or whatever the situation is.

Im just saying this out loud - because SOME of the problems that came up on AllDeaf was caused by this sort of thing. And I'm giving notice and bringing attention to this problem. It's not to cause drama here, but to prevent future dramas here. In all, I'm saying BE MATURE. I don't care who doesn't like who here, but it's friggin' getting outta hand here.

I just don't think it's mature to do this sort of thing - that's my opinion.
