Medicaid DO cover dental care for children.

Oh I see...

I don´t understand why mother neglect his son´s medical care when she know Medicaid cover dental care for the children...

No,,, It should be a Choice to get insurance.. NOT FORCED TO BUY IT!!

No, it's optional to offers health insurance at most job.

Please don't ruin Liebling's thread and keep think about yourself.

Some people, like myself, have NO co-pays. But when there are co-pays, it is very low...$1 to $5 which is much lower than if you have insurance from your job or whatever. It's not that bad. So...CHILL.

And I do have quality doctors.

You are also getting off topic.

This is true. I have been on medicaid since birth. For most of my life, I have been affliated with top notch doctors and hospitals affliated with major universities. I've been treated at Children's Hospital National Medical Center in Washington DC. I've also been treated at Georgetown University Medical Center, also in Washington DC. These hospitals have excellent doctors on staff, and they both accept Medicaid.

Incidently, the neurosurgeon who treated me in childhood is well known in this country, and is now treating children at a brain institute in New York. He also accepted my medicaid when I was little.

About the co-pay, that's true. I do have a small co-pay for each prescription I get. It's $2 per med. I picked up a few scripts just today. I had three prescriptions that were filled, and i paid $6.

There are more details to this story, I'm sure.

However, just based on the information available, I vote child neglect. I don't think putting the mom in jail solves anything, unless there is more to the story that we don't know.

We don't know the family's financial situation, or what free or low-cost dental services are available in their community.

However, the statement that the mom thought the baby teeth would just fall out (that they weren't important), and that the permanent teeth would be fine, so no big deal, indicates that the woman is ignorant of basic dental hygiene and child development. Most moms in America these days understand that it is important to keep a young child's baby teeth healthy, which means regular cleaning, and avoiding sugary foods and drinks. If this mom knew about necessary dental hygiene but didn't enforce tooth brushing, and didn't manage what her child ate and drank, then that is some bad negligence.

Sadly, I know another mom like this one. Her child, at pre-school age, had to have several teeth pulled for the same reason. Mom did find a Christian dentist who did the work free of charge. However, even after that awful experience, mom still lets the child eat sugary snacks, drink sodas, and not brush. The child's remaining teeth look awful. I just don't understand it. Prevention of dental problems in children is cheap (toothbrush and toothpaste), or free (no sugary snacks or drinks).

Yes, I know that some kids have special dental problems that are not caused by poor dental hygiene but those are the exception.

For prevent to rotten from their teeth then stop to give a soda, or even never drink soda until around late childhood, probably 8 years old or older but depends on parent that would make better care with them, also if make mistake but wait until baby teeth is popping out then start grow into regular teeth.

That dentist should have of questioning the mom why or what caused her son s teeth going rotten... it could be from medications... there are many factors to rotten teeth....
Mom again should be concerned about her son s pains... get help too..

there are pros and cons.

Right.

Medicaid and Medicare is covering my CI and CI surgery.

I only pay a $1 to $3 co pay for my medications, which is practically nothing. Without Medicaid and Medicare I would never have been able to pay for my medications.

Tell that to Medicaid provider when i had to see a Shrink. I was forced to COPAY.So i wont be seeing shrinks anymore! Thanks to Medicaid.

Again All medicaid will full covered kids not adults.... you are adult you pay copay... not children....

I have never paid any co-pays when I saw a shrink or a counselor. It never cost me anything.

I guess you just can't be bothered to shell out 5 measly bucks for a shrink? I guess that must be why you are the way you are...no wonder!

Not everyone has dental insurance.

Hubby, I, our daughter, our son-in-law, all have jobs but none of us has dental insurance. We pay for all our dental services, full price, out of pocket. It's expensive but it has to be done. Paying for our daughter's braces was the most expensive.

Hubby and I go to the inexpensive dental clinic at the college for routine check-up, xrays, and cleaning. For my major dental work, I went to the state medical university. It was about half price, and the service was excellant. Student dentists actually take more time, and are more careful and detailed. Everything they do is closely surpervised and checked. Also, the university dentists use all the newest techniques and products. They do exactly what your teeth need just because your teeth need it. They don't do anything just to make money because the students aren't paid.

hahaha... right... I was out of job.. had to be on welfare.. on medicaid... they were fully covered on kids.. not adults...so it is no big deal paying copay for myself ...

I was out of jobs for one year... i appreciated Medicaid very much helping my kids...

i have agree with posts

but i think have dental insurances as co-pay under of medicaid not include with medicaid for it.

the mother get in big trouble for abuse of son but need kept teeth smile than no teeth.

my brother got wrong teeth and no faults for that but he using braces for years but i would suggestion for that boy using braces more improvement of teeth than no teeth to away from mother and stop abuse of their boys.

but im sure boy would need custody with their family like as include Grandmother, aunt or uncle can care for their boys they wont hurt they dont abuse by their mother.
