Which shift would you prefer? (job-related)

Yea, I use Advair, and I LOVE IT! Also when the weather change abruptly, my lungs gone bonker! Hate that! Fall is around corner, grrrrr.

I know what you mean. When I was working, I had to use my inhaler twice.. but I was expected that I was gonna wheeze the whole night. I was sweating my ass off. My shirt was soaked, pants was attached to my legs.. not comfortable! When I'm at home with AC and low humidity too.. I'm all good. If its 100 outside with very low humidity, I'm good. The worse is the high percentage of the humidity.. I hate it. My asthma is severe. Its no fun at all. :pissed:

Why not to go bed during school hours saying 9.00am and wake up at 2.30-3.00pm before you collect kid from school or they come home by bus????
Remember I only suggestion this 3rd shift okay!!

I used to think that would help but it wasn't easy for me. I thought that I would have the whole house to myself during the day so I can sleep. I was restless, had alot going on in my mind thinking the offices are open during the day and if I sleep thru it all, I'm going to miss all of my errands.. so I stayed awake.. then I went to sleep at 5 pm.. my daughter was hungry, kept waking me up like 20 times. I couldn't do it. I knew I was needed at home and not working 3rd. I definitely can understand that it might be easy for those who don't have kids.. and those who have kids and a wife/husband and is able to work around the schedule. it just didn't work for me. I'm a single mom and have no family living around here. Tweetybirdie helped but then again.. I just couldn't do it.

I use that and Albuterol too. OH geez.. tell me about the weather changes and spring/fall seasons. I always get sick in the fall. I get bronchitis in the fall season, and used more of my inhaler too. in the spring is pretty bad. summer and winter, i have no problem, its either too hot, too cold and dry.

Yup same thing! Albuterol, I use them more during spring/fall times.

I think 3rd shift is better. Because you can get more things done. Send more time with family in the morning or afternoon. Got your option when you want to sleep. You can just get so much more done in life when working 3rd.

My dream job is... sleep all the morning and work at noon and finish whatever I can on project and go home with one-time paid from Monday to Thursday. :D

Yes that´s what my friends said the same things... It´s not easy to have kids around when you work on 3rd shift. It damage family life mostly.

It´s easy than you thought...Nope. I know friends who experienced it and said that it´s not very easy... Some of them end to gain weight due stress and neglect kids and marriage because they feel tiring... It could lead people moody... Family counsellor advised people to not do 3rd shift... but 1st and 2nd shift is okay.

I would don´t mind to work 1st and 2nd shift... (6 am to 2 pm and 2pm to 10pm). I work 7.30 am to 4 pm everyday from Mon to Fri. I don´t mind... If I has no job then I don´t mind do 2 shift... 3rd shift... No Way. My family comes first.

I would rather work the night shift. I am not a big fan of days, I am more focused and calm at night. Nighttime brings out the grogginess in people, and that’s good, because hopefully then they’ll be too tired to bug me.

Mine is different, I work ALL day from am to pm, so that's 15 to 18 hours a day depends on how late the cook-off is open until...So every shows is vary..

Yes, yours is different as 3rd shift... (work from 10pm to 6 am or midnight to 8pm).

not really 3rd shift, more of 1, 2, and 3 rd I work ALL day

Yes I know it´s not 3rd shift, you work. I said your is different as 3rd shift.

*curious* what´s time you start and end?

Well that' s depends as you see every cook-off has their hours when they're open and closed, so in Reno, I worked at 5 am until 11 pm, in other shows, mostly at 7 am until midnight, other shows closed at midnight so that will leave me there until 1 am....So it's really depends on the hours they're open and how busy the show is, if the show is soo busy, we stay open unless otherwise...

I doesn't mind at all.. getting used w/my hubby's work 1,2, and 3rd shifts...routines every 2 wks changes..

I like rid him when he's on 3rd shift... Yay... i can sleep and like HOG bed swarming roll over my bed.. I'm freed.... good sleep.. *snickers*

Of course I do miss him long hours when he gets back home and straight way to sleep.... then get up ready for eating meal as dinner time... and little chat w/me spend time hours and spend time w/his children.. then GONE to work... aint' easy hours but become adapt used it...

Right now, He had been awful thinking about plan going back midnight shift permantly... I told him up to him!
His decision not mine! :)

Rotating-shift work tied to prostate cancer risk
Wed Sep 13, 2:25 PM ET

The results of a study published in the American Journal of Epidemiology suggest there is a significant association between rotating-shift work and prostate cancer.

"Shift workers are known to be a high-risk population for...some cancers," such as breast cancer and colorectal cancer, Dr. Tatsuhiko Kubo, of the University of Occupational and Environmental Health, Kitakyushu, Japan, and colleagues write.

The researchers looked for a link between shift work and the incidence of prostate cancer among 14,052 male workers enrolled in the Japan Collaborative Cohort Study for Evaluation of Cancer Risk. A survey on lifestyle factors was conducted between 1988 and 1990.

The subjects were asked what their most common work schedule was: day work, rotating-shift work or night work. Overall, 11,269 (80.2 percent) were day workers, 982 (7.0 percent) were night workers, and 1801 (12.8 percent) worked a rotating-shift.

Thirty-one cases of prostate cancer were reported over an average follow-up period of 8 years.

When the data were adjusted for the effect of age, the researchers noted a three-fold increase in the risk of prostate cancer among the rotating-shift workers. A slight increase was also observed among the night workers.

These results were not significantly altered by further adjusting the data to account for other possible risk factors including family history of cancer, body mass index, smoking, alcohol consumption, job type, physical activity at work, perceived stress, educational level and marital status.

Kubo's team suggests that reduced secretion of the hormone melatonin may be involved, since it helps induce sleep and has anticancer effects.

Because this is the first time that shift work has been identified as a risk factor for prostate cancer, they add that the "association needs to be replicated and confirmed in other settings."

You rolls over on your bed a lot? I haven't noticed that when we shared the same bed in St. Louis. I didn't felt no movements.

Hey, people don't get the wrong idea, We aren't lesbians. :nono:

I worked one time in past as part-time worker 10 pm to 2 am. I loved it cuz Im a nite owl. At first, I had hard time going to sleep--stayed up to 6 am and it took me a couple of months to get used to it--going to sleep at 4 am.

Now, I am working early 1st shift 6 am to 2:30 pm. I like it ok but still hate waking up at 5 am, :( Never been a morning person....where is the coffee?? *running to the nearest Mcdonald's for their yummy hot coffee*
