Deaf Apple Forum/Discussion

Hi, I have to bump this.

My Motorola SB6141 modem was disconnected for some reason. I had to unplug both of modem and Netgear WDNR3700 router in order to reconnect. It was disconnected twice. Now, it is working now.

I saw the strange box on my iMac. Sorry, I don't recall the exact wording on the box. Only thing caught my attention.

"192.168.1.2 device is using wifi." What device does it mean? My iphone? My iphone has wifi symbol on it while my modem and router were disconnected, but eventually it went back to LTE symbol. Is it that point to my iphone? I really don't know.

I did call Optimum about disconnection. I was told that both modem and router are working fine so far. It was disconnected about 15 minutes ago. Representative said that it might be a router issue. Well, my router is 5 years old. I think I may upgrade to a brand new router, but wait and see if I get a frequent disconnections. My white modem is brand new (I bought it last March to replace my black Motorola modem SB6121 because it went kaput due to plugging issues.

Has it happened to you before? Please feedbacks. Thanks

UPDATE: My Motorola SB6141 is defective. It is not even one year old! It won't cooperate with my 6 year old router. I went to Best Buy to buy a modem to replace with a defective modem.

It is now Motorola modem SB6183. It is a short and little fat white box with bright blue dots.

No wonder why my defective modem kept disconnected. My previous Motorola modems were fine. Weird.

My router will be next to get replaced. I have not decided on new router yet (I prefer a Netgear brand).

I hope my new modem stays connected. LOL :giggle:

Netgear is better than D-link or anything. Just get netgear and your internet will stay connected.

Update:

My internet has been disconnected since last Dec. Nearly two weeks ago, a tech came in and found an old filter in the box outside of my apartment. My internet connection was back on for a while until last friday. It had disconnected every morning and every nights for four days in a row. I beefed with Optimum and I was told to reset the router settings.. that's what I forgot about it.

When I came home from work, I did follow the instructions after I researched the Netgear forums earlier today at work. First, connect modem to my iMac- works. Connect modem to the router (after resetting the factory settings)-failed. Firmware is maxed out already. It made sense.

I immediately knew that my old router is no good. I went to the best buy and bought a badass spider style router on sale ($20 bucks.. whoopie doo)...

My newest router is Netgear Nightwalk R8000 wifi router. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/netgear...lack/7201035.p?id=1219257124935&skuId=7201035

Finally, my modem acknowledges my new router. Now, it is fully connected.

All I say... Oh, geez. SMH. I am done with pouring my energy dealing with connection issues. Peace out! LOL

Yes, I had experienced with Dlink, Belkin, Linksys, Trendnet, and Netgear routers while I was a Sorenson installer at that time. Even old Verizon DSL modems and Fios modem/routers.

Belkin is the worst ones. Seriously.

Best ones- Netgear and Verizon Fios. I have not checked out Google Fiber yet. Dang.

NetGear is very good one. The same one that you have that I gave it to my sister. She said that she does not have a problem with it for two years. That's good to know.

For my old D-Link (DGL-4100 Gigabit), it works fine for three years and is still working so far. Knock the woods. It is no longer update for the software verison. Is that important?

I am surprised that Sorenson gives the old D-Link routers (not Gigabit) to its customers.

Great. :)

If your old Dlink with no longer updated firmware and is still working/cooperating with a modem..it should be ok. Unless router is no longer communicating with a modem, then it is time to upgrade it.

Oh, yeah.. I know. LOL SMH at Sorenson. I laughed at the memories.

Now, sorenson trainers don't configure the routers anymore because sorenson tech support can turn on SIP and NAT inside Ntouch system. If routers are complicated for some reasons, so they can check them out, of course.

Update: I still had internet problems. A younger tech came in and found the exactly wrong with my internet connection problems.. it was a bad coxial cable. He hauled the coxial cable out and replace it with a new one. So far, I have no internet connection problems so far.

Knock on a wood." :eek3: What a joy! :laugh2:

Wow, I'm surprised. How did the tech found it? Spot a bend wire?

It's good that you feel better that your internet connection is working fine. Whew!

I ordered Apple Watch 42" and black color at 12:10am on April 10th....5 minutes after Apple Store opened for people to order watch...and the delivery date is in June

Once I receive it, and I have 12 days to play, if I don't like it, I'll return it at Apple Store. No problem.

Happen to our old house. I checked ping google.com from cmd and it was around 120ms. I found that coaxial cable got corrosion from outside then I rewired it and checked ping google.com again and it around 70ms. So I replaced the new coaxial cable between outside of house to modem. It took me around 3 hours then checked ping google.com was around 10ms which MUCH better than before. Cost me around $30 for part and tool.

I just stopped at Apple store to see new demo Apple Watch. It s pretty nice! But I don't need to buy it. Enough to use my Pebble watch. I like it s battery life about 5 or 6 days. Apple Watch s battery life is 18 hours.
