Real cute. In all seriousness, though..... a bus like that wouldn't be a bad thing, if there were a special road for these. As it is, they can only go on country roads, and can't be on highways or expressways, cause at least the kids would be safe from slick ice, and wouldn't have much of a rollover impact. See my point?

Yikes!! Just a few moments ago it was -10. Now it's -12. How much colder is this city gonna get?! It's already predicted to be -16 tonight. Looks like we might have a chance to break the all-time record of -18 degrees today. Just what I wasn't hoping to see.

I just saw on Channel 5 out of St. Louis that Mascoutah, IL got 15.0" of snow and Centralia 12.0" or a foot!

Gotta go open drapes and shades so sun on big south windows will help with warmth in the house (furnace is working fine).
 
similar weather going on here, 20 below with windchills between 36 and 50 below.

During the weekend, hubby bought hand and foot warmers for us for vehicles ....he just left for work and now just called me and said he is stuck in traffic for a second time. First time was when he trying to get on the freeway and passed by emergency vehicles responding to a car that had spun out on a bridge and was left in the other lane after hitting guardrail.
He said freeway looks good but traction is actually poor, I suggested maybe he should just come back home.

We were going to go to the holistic vet today. Think maybe not-
 
and yes, most area school districts are closed, including universities and tech schools, as well as daycares and many other places.
some churches and shelters have opened warming centers for people of any need, to come to get warm.

some stores are closed or closing early
 
ok, second accident was a rollover. Hubby just got back home, had no idea he was home and went to put laundry in and saw pantry door open and was worried dogs had got in there. Nope - hubby putting away stuff after he came back in.
He said he "took the hint" and just turned around instead of trying to get to work.

Low tonight is supposed to be 22, and tomorrow night 25.
 
One of my friend works in a library in Chicago and it is open today. It is crazy to think that library would be open. Also scary to think of how many people will fill up library as just about everything else will be closed.

And that's why I have my own laptop-- so I can stay home and stay nice and warm, and not have to worry about driving into the nasty weather.
 
Indiana has a CODE RED... mayor locked down the state saying no driving except emergency vehicles or in case of an emergency.... wow

Mayor Slay-er here in the city has shut the city down as well but thats it.

I'm wondering if the Postal Service is closed today? Mail hasn't shown up yet, and it's usually on time.

I went to work at 7 AM...it was so warm this morning..about 44 degrees. I left work at 12:15 and whoa....starting to feel the temps dropping fast here!

Your area is next in line to get what we're getting now. You can expect that tonight and tomorrow. It's -15 here now, and still dropping.
