Californians hit with unprecedented gasoline price jump

Gas version of F250, gets 250-350 miles per tank (29 gal) where mine for same size tank, I can get close to 600 miles on a tank. Right now around 490 miles due to colder weather. Yeah, the colder the less mileage I get :(

There are few times that I had it exceeded 600 miles is when I drive exclusively on highway. I go mostly 50-55MPH The faster I go, the mileage drops easily.

OMG!!

but... it is normal for truck drivers to pay more for gas. :)

When you get to sprawled desert area, like in San Bernardino and Riverside, you will see plenty of big gas stations, they are pretty flat with mountain in background, but it is different if you are in SF or LA.

Hence the part I put in ( ).

However, for the most part those are still smaller than the QuikTrips we have in the south.

Yes I get 20mpg with mine as well. Even when towing.

You got Powerstroke? I love my powerstroke, wish it is 7.3 instead of 6.0. I am ok with it since it has been trouble-free. I learn that I could take veg oil but I must filter and dry it up first before throw in my tank. If it is 7.3, just throw in and it will run regardless.

You said about "cities" so I'm talking about sprawled desert area (urban-suburban), also they are not in rural area.

Yup, the big gas tank + diesel = CHAMPION.

I'm too tired to fill it up so I love to have a bigger gas tank.

Wanna trade with me? I pay around 120 dollars per fill on my baby. ;)

My F-150 had a "36 gallon tank" (held closer to 40) and in California in 2011 $170 fill ups were normal. Lol. That was with regular unleaded.

You misunderstood. it's cool.

No, I'm not misunderstanding you. I understand about what are you talking.

There is another reason too. Gas stations in California tend to be smaller than is most areas (probably because of land prices) which means stations purchase less making delivery costs a bigger hit. In fact on of the reasons I ditched my truck out there for a tiny car is because it was so hard to get in and out of gas stations.

Also the "convenience store" portion is MUCH smaller, so gas stations have fewer alternative items to profit on.

(Granted this is in the cities. not rural parts of CA)

In bold, you are talking about gas stations are smaller in California so you mentioned about cities (look at bold that I highlighted) so I made some exception about urban sprawl in desert area that where gas stations are bigger and more room than in SF and LA.

LOL, there are many sizes fuel tanks offered in F series. The largest one I heard was 90 gallon (Diesel only).

I'm staying away from gasoline for trucks.

Yeah. At some of them, you could put together a nice Thanksgiving dinner with what's for sale there, and fulfill your Christmas shopping list.

 I am a big fan of those places. A QuikTrip in Texas just added an Ice Cream shops. The sandwich selection is good too.

Why not give him discount on your best selling sunglasses, perhaps 20% off so that he can wear it and not see anything wrong?
If you cant do math, 20% off equals 3.99 so that would go down to 16 dollars a pair.

ya'all - it would be simpler and best if we just put our snide quibbling aside for now and say it straight to him because this is escalating to bullying level. sarcasm/quips are not widely and easily understood so come on now and cease this farce. I'm sure ya'all have had some good chuckles out of this but it ain't funny anymore now.

come clean and say it straight.

I don't think you want all those Californians moving into your neighborhood. :giggle:
noooo ma'am!

The reason their gas costs more is because California requires them to use special blends of gas that cost more to refine, and is limited to only certain refineries to provide.
yes - that's one of the reasons. I'm wondering when California will start realizing how expensive their "green" approach is.... it's not practical. it's not logical. it's not sensible.

or why not explain it straight to him?

Have you been in Los Angeles and other parts of cities in California? The air quality is worse than you can image, worse than in NYC. California does not have much choice but to enforce stringent emission laws. Too many people move to California than move out which increases numbers of cars result more dirtier air quality.

I have been in Los Angeles myself and understood why they made so big deal with emission.
