grrrrrr....What am I gonna do with the Cat....sleeps all day and up all night, getting into trouble...He's bigger than my doggie (a Pomeranian) and also weighs more, he's a "snackable" late-night cat.....He'd rather have dog treats than cat treats...but I'm guessing it's just to piss my doggie off by eating her treats....

Woke up this AM, and again, he had gotten into the doggie treat canister, knocked the lid off (even tho' I had set a heavy napkin holder on top of it, as he has done this many times before).....napkins and dog treats all over the floor, and crumbs where he had eaten so many of them (chicken-wrapped doggie biscuits).....

Now I've put the doggie treat canister on top of the Fridge....and my bet is that he will jump up there soon as we go to sleep tonight....

I'm at my wits end with this Fat Cat!....Locked him into the bedroom as punishment...and I can see his paw under the door, wanting to get out....My doggie goes over there, smells his paw...and gives me a "mad" look...as to say "why are you being mean to the Cat"?....

Any suggestions here?...He's a lovable Cat, and we do love him...but this mess has got to stop. His food bowl is always full, so he isn't hungry...

Yeah, you're going to have to lock away the treats and hand them out as needed. Don't keep them in Tupperware or Rubbermaid on a shelf--they'll get torn up by the Cat's claws and teeth. Keep them in something with a screw top, and in a latchable cupboard, not one with an easy to open door. Inside the fridge is probably the most secure place; hard for a cat to open.

Top of the fridge is no challenge to a cat.

Yeah...good answer there...he even gets into the candy bowl by knocking the lid off...(it's hard candy (fruits) and is wrapped)...he just knocks it over and plays with the candy, batting candy from one room to the other :giggle:...gets into the laundry basket and dirty socks are from one room to the other (strange as it sounds)....

Maybe I should just try to keep him up all day by throwing him into the shower :giggle:

Sounds like you need to invest in a lot of door locks.

Does he have enough kitty toys?

Yes, he does. Even a scratching post...and every night after I've brushed my doggie, I even brush him (if he will stay still to let me do it)...and play with him with a laser light...He also loves toilet paper and likes to be wiped down with it.......he's spoiled...the boys also pick him up and love him...so don't believe it's lack of attention...feel it's just being bord late at night when we all are sleeping.

I've had cats in the past that liked to get on top of the fridge, probably for the warmth. Maybe today's energy efficient fridges aren't warm up there. :hmm:

I have seen videos of cats opening fridge/freezer doors and I know my sister-in-law's cat have been known to open either the fridge or the freezer.

I had to put my bird seed into a small galvanized can with a lock lid because the raccoons/squirrels/etc.

Haha, thinking about Steve Martin and Cat Handcuffs.

How many people have cats? One, two, three, four...okay, ten. Now- let me ask you this...do ya trust 'em? Because I've gotta get a pair of cat handcuffs and I gotta get 'em right away. Just the little ones that go around the little front paws or maybe the manacles..four, to get all four paws. But what a drag; I found out my cat was embezzling from me. You think you know a cat for ten years, he pulls something like this. I found out that while I was away, he would go out to the mailbox, pick up the checks, take 'em down to the bank and cash 'em... disguised as me. He had the little kitty arrow through the head...and the little kitty bunny ears. And I wouldn't have caught him, but I went out to his house where he sleeps...and there was about $3,000 worth of cat toys out there. Any you can't return 'em 'cause they have spit all over them! So now I'm stuck with $3000 worth of cat toys! Oh, sure...they're fun. You got the little rubber mouse; has a bell inside of it- Haw haw haw! Boy, I hate it when it goes under the sofa! Whoa, gimme that! Gimme that! Hiss! hiss!

Try to get cat started on ASL. The cat's paws will get quite a work out and then be tired. Then cat will sleep just like everyone else.
