Scientists have reversed inner ear deafness in gerbils.

Still doesn't mean that it will work in humans. Plus I think that this is going to help late deafened people, rather then born/early dhh people.

I am sick of tire of those scientists and doctors coming up with some idea of making the deaf babies or deaf people hear. We have been going through all that for many, many years over and over. This is not going to work anyway. Just let it go. Accept us the way we are, no matter what. We have been trying to tell hearing parents and hearing authorities especially many audists (AGBell) who refuse to listen and don't understand us. Enough. That is enough. Why do we have to suffer under them like that? They don't care about us being the way we are. They only care to make money, lots of money so that they can become millionaires or billionaires. Geeze. :roll: I am mad. :mad:

Many of us WANT this and welcome the progress. No one is going to force it on you. You don't have to "suffer" at all.
 
Some may argue that testing should have been done on deaf ferrets and deaf cats.

I do worry about future children when they have to put up with this crap. What if they can not hear and most hearing people expect that to work for them? They would force them to do what they want them to do for their hearing parents and to please AGBell organization. Again no ASL. They (deaf children) would have to suffered like we did many years ago. It is just not fair when many hearing people refuse to listen to us. That is the biggest problem. :mad:
 
Bebonang: relax - scientists haven't devised a Cochlear Implant for "deaf" gerbils/cats or even crocodiles down in Australia.

I will never take it. I believe America will add the law to force deaf people to take those type shots to save their budget (typical American political reasons).
 
Comment on AGBell-still stands. Still has no meaning to me. What they suggest-unknown. I am aware that a Google search probably have some info. Still of no interest to me.
Still my choice on what I read.

Well, I have deal with interpreter shortage in our state and I don't have interpreter in one class, only I got is captionist and I couldn't understand her so much.

I just want hearing people to start learn how to use ASL, that all I care.

I think if people want to utilize the technology and if they don't they won't simple as that. There are thousands of people who are deaf who do want to hear. Just because you don't bebonang you don't have to get mad because other people do. I'm proud to be deaf...I wear my VERY noticeable hearing aids for people to see, I teach myself ASL, I advocate for myself, I use adaptive technology but that doesn't mean that I don't struggle every single day because of my deafness. I have had to drop out of a program i LOVE because I can't hear properly...which sucks. What am I doing...getting a CI for my R ear so that I can hear when I want to. Ya at the end of the day I'm still deaf...but that doesn't mean I've given into the audists..it means I'm choosing what is best for ME. What's best for me doesn't have to be what is best for you.

This is no problem with that. You are grown up now. You can make decision on what you want to do with your deafness and if you want to be in the oral program without ASL. It is all up to you.

But what about children that could not tell their parents and other hearing audists that she or he could not make out what they are saying? The hearing parents are not listening to the children at all. They force them to do what they want them to do to make hearing people easier to communicate with deaf children without ASL or limited ASL.

If they are going to ban ASL because of the stem cells or reversed inner ear deafness thinking that this is going to be another miracle. And then turn out it was not working at all. Don't count on it for a miracle.

It is the same with hearing blind people who are forced not use Braille, now that they use voice technology to listen. As for the Deaf-Blind, they need to depend on hand signs (tactile signs) and braille more than the hearing blind people. The Hard of Hearing and the Late-Deafened need to face reality that they have to live with deafness. You just have to embrace deafness and accept your deafness. Living in the hearing world is really hard for all of us, no matter what degrees of hearing loss we have. It is really brutal and the hearing society don't give a damn about us. That is why we have to fight for our rights as a d/Deaf and HOH people including the d/Deaf-Blind. Of course we struggle trying to do what we were suppose to do but it is not giving us any accommodations at all. They turn us down just to save money. Geeze. :roll:
