Truth, there are no people more annoying than new converts or ex smokers.

When tell the child about gay/lesbian is wrong, only work when child is straight, that's very bad influence and they will end up to be regret about being hateful or bullying.

It doesn't work when child turns to be gay, lesbian or bisexual because they will have deal with conflict of interest, disown, hate and abuse because they know about sex orientation isn't selective, except for bisexual has alternatively between two gender.

People will feel that things are being pushed down their throats as to speak, but that's only because they feel they are right and the other person or people are wrong. This is where pride comes in. They will not want to consider what the other person has to say. This is why we are called to teach people on what is right and wrong. Think of the story of Jonah. If he didn't go and teach the people of the great city of Nineveh, they would have been destroyed.

This is why I said earlier that we are here to help one another. I gave the example of helping a neighbor realize that his smoking habits are detrimental to his health. Does unconditional love make one sit back and let that neighbor smoke on to his death? Of course not! The person would try to encourage that neighbor to quit smoking. What I am doing is no different, Ambrosia. :)
The bolded part. You do realize that that applies to you and what you're doing don't you? So you're listening to people when they were saying that no homosexuality is not wrong? I think not. So is it your pride that won't allow you to respect that person's belief? that no,they don't think it's not wrong, and they don't need you to "teach" them, because their belief is just as valid to them as yours is to you? They have their belief and you have yours, boundaries my friend, boundaries. The next line after the bolded part, "that is why we are called to teach people on what is right and what is wrong". It's ideas like that that breed intolerance.

Wow, I can't believe how calm this thread has been.

I know the thread got a little de-railed, but it is my *opinion* that Adam Smith was fired for basically using specific phrases when he confronted the CFA employee. Since he represented his company, Vante, as a Corporate Officer, and since he was making public statements about CFA while badgering one of their employees - and filmed it, and posted it on youtube - I believe that Vante did not approve of his actions as it reflected poorly on their company as a whole.

He was acting unprofessionally and did more than just state his opinion. He could have removed the diatribe and stated his opinion plainly and to the point without addressing this employee directly (as well as filming her without her permission). I believe those are the reasons he was fired. As an officer of any company, you just cannot act this way in public as an officer is also a representative of their company.

I read a follow up article where Adam Smith said he attempted to apologize to the CFA employee the following morning, but that she refused to talk to him. I can't really blame her - she had her privacy invaded and her image shown internationally without her consent.

I really do not like seeing anyone lose their job, especially in this dire economy. Especially a father of four such as Adam Smith. However, his attempt to apologize means even he knew what he did was wrong.

Maybe we can all learn from this - to be careful what we say, and who we say it to - and where we say it and whether or not it is being filmed? :)

Civility is the key I would think.

WHAT?! This is a shocker! This still shows your misunderstanding. Abstinence works 100% every time! If people practiced abstinence, the number of people contracting HIV, AIDS, and STDs would be much much lower. Also, by people practicing abstinence, the number of children abandoned, who are raised by a single parent, or given up to adoption would be much much lower!

abstinence program? yea.... how did that work out for Bristol Palin?

Actually, if they have unconditional love for their child then they will want to help them make the right choices in life. Unconditional love does not just make a parent feed a child, clothe a child, give a bed for the child to sleep in, and so on. It is also preparing them for life in which they know what is right and wrong in order to lead a happy life.

I am only stating the truths in which I hope will help others consider what they think, feel, and believe as well as to what is true and what is not.

As for your signature, it does matter what we believe because what we believe dictates our actions! :-p

this post alone truly shows how ignorant you are and the lack of life experience you have. either you're still in HS or you're very sheltered.... :cool2:

watch and learn, grasshopper...

Reba says no personal comments necessary. :giggle:

I guess that he doesn't accept some changes. Maybe he doesn't realize this is 2012.

Smith got fired for anti Chick-fil-A rant online. He was off clock at that time. It looks like a communist-style termination. Is he not allowed free speech, even though the incident didn't occur at his workplace? Nobody fired Dan for his free speech since he is the co-owner of the family business. What a crazy world!

It was only between me and respectyoda because respectyoda said saying "no" isn't my vocabulary.

I think the distinct difference is ... Cathy was not berating an employee that was working at another corporation and belittling them publicly.

If it were possible, on what ground(s) would you fire him?

The two are not even closely related. Smith is an employee #1 and Cathy is the CEO. Smith berated a company & it's employees and Cathy said only that he supports traditional marriage and did not berate anyone! Cathy was asked to be on film and questioned and Smith didn't ask for permission. Smith deserved to be fired and it is legal and right in every aspect. One should learn to tame the tongue as it is a fire! Tough to do but easy to say!

TCathy said only that he supports traditional marriage and did not berate anyone!

so what about gay employees then? now CFA is borderline violating discrimination law. now CFA will be under DOJ microscope for that.

What did CFA do that was "borderline violating discrimination law?" Did they threaten to fire someone?

more like - "driving them out" due to uncomfortable atmosphere at work. it's called a "hostile work environment". I've taken a course in this matter. what CFA CEO did clearly fit the definition of hostile work environment but borderline. I don't think anything has happened YET so far... but I have no doubt that CFA will be monitored carefully by DOJ since Cathy's remark.

Have their fellow employees and management been treating them badly?

see above.

again - I said borderline. and I said they will be monitored carefully by DOJ.

I saw the posts about the customer who was rude to the employee. What are the instances of employees and managers being mean to gay employees at CFA?

it does not have to be something too direct like that. it can be insidious and over time, it creates uncomfortable work atmosphere that will be enough to drive them out. they quit instead of getting fired. this is a old common tactic used by company to avoid paying for unemployment benefits.

deaf people know this. we've been there at our workplaces. it's exactly same thing for gay people.
