2 Year Old Cooper Hear's Mommy's Voice First Time

That video clearly displays one particular example of a young child not wanting to wear CI's and the caretaker is obviously trying to get her to put them on.

Why are you deliberately being argumentative against someone who is showing firsthand experience in the matter of CI and young kids? Can you not accept her opinion?
Since when did coolgirlspyer90's opinion matter less than her parent's decision even if they believed they were 'better informed' than her?

I said it was a sad case.

she is 5 1/2 in this video.

Yes, she is 5 1/2....she doesn't want to wear it in that video. I don't blame her. A sticky situation per the court rulings although I'm curious as to how the whole thing is now currently two or three years later court cases and all. Does anyone have any updates??

I said it was a sad case.

incorrect. you said it was a sad case of custody battle. what we're telling you is that this is a sad case of un-consented CI.

Parents still have to make decisions every day for their child whether the child agrees with it or not. As for CI, parents may have to consider the fact regarding crucial auditory development early in a child's life compared to later and consider the ramifications between the two.

Ok, I had to come back here after hearing about this.

For early implantation regarding crucial auditory development (as you said above, Koko), I'd like to know what you think about our now-permabanned member, FJ, who was so vocal for years here on early implantation, yet if you read her blogs of even this week alone, Miss Kat STILL doesn't speak "normally." ("Why do you talk weird" is the exact question she was asked by strangers.) She doesn't use ASL (she was pulled out of her bi-bi program.) She even has a broken processor. How does any of this benefit the daughter, Miss Kat? She's stuck with 2 CIs that she got no choice in making to have, one is broken so she gets no auditory help from that one, she uses no sign for back-up, and she "talks weird" (which comes from lack of auditory development!)

Even I, with HAs, was faring better than that at that point in life.

Let the child decide when he/she is of age to decide. Thank you, Naisho, for your post about later-in-life implantation -- that was excellent.

I am contributing. I'm supporting parents right to make difficult choices as they see fit.

in case you're confused, nobody in this thread is seeking for advice or looking for information to make a difficult choice. I believe we're just commenting and sharing our opinions on video shown in OP.

I said it was a sad case.

but i'm not talking about the parent's case. What is important is how the child feels about it. and she obviously does not want to wear the implants.

Does anybody care for the kids feelings for who does not want an implant or is being forced to wear it because of their parents? i mean, this is shocking to me. Because i mean, My heart cries for this girl, I feel sorry for her. I would want her to have a happy childhood and be who she really wants to be. Obviously, some people here does not want to listen to some 18 year old who has experienced the decision making process with parents.

They can share stories. We have a section here for them on the forum.

If they are found continually causing a ruckus with the members on this site, depending on the context of the argument and how severe the trolling is, it could be construed directly as a violation.

There isn't anything new in what I'm telling you, we mods have continued to made decisions on bannings when they have been seen as over the line. We will make that decision, not the members.

Ok, thanks for the answer!

Then again it's a 5yo.....Might have been a bad day... :dunno:

I didn't say they were :) So why are ya offering up so much advice then?

perhaps you might want to read up on this story first instead of spinning it. there was another video of same girl at different time. she did same thing.

How rude!

just being deadly serious and firmly assertive to remind you of your place because we know your usual game. it's tiresome.

3 separate incidents in one video

1st one is 2:29
2nd one is at 3:38
3rd one is at 4:07

We still don't have all the facts.......and that applies to videos that present either view really

Exactly! I think what the pro implantees don't understand is that while there are right off the bat canidates (there have ALWAYS been deep profound unaidable kids as well as kids with auditory nereopathy) the implantation criteria is a LOT less strict then what it used to be in the old days. We're not talking about letting a deep profound or auditory nereopathy kid fall through the cracks. But there are kids who can STILL benifit from HAs, but who are getting upgraded b/c they can't hear well in noise or who qualify UNAIDED or who can't hear S......god in THOSE cases, it's very clear that kids can wait....god in the 80's and 90's most dhh kids wore hearing aids and benifited.
