Law Requires Ultrasound Before Abortion

It's a women's choice on whether or not to have an abortion. Having an ultra sound isn't going to change the fact that a woman is not in a stable or good place in her life to go through a pregnancy/birth. As for people who look at it from the fetus's point of view, I don't know if that's even fair. A heart beat and brain waves aren't present until week 6, and if no heart beat and no brain waves is how doctors know someone is dead then... yeah...I don't have anymore facts to go on than that about pregnancy. But, I say women have been pretty good at knowing when it's just not time to have a baby and dealing with an unwanted pregnancy since the dawn of time so what should be the focal point is making it safe. Let's not go back to the times of wire hangers/abandoned babies on doorsteps.

(sorry for the long post)

You're on kind of shaky ground there, if you are using "absence of heart beat and brain waves" to justify abortion. Most women are only just figuring out they are pregnant at the point of 4 to 6 weeks' gestation. If after that the heart beat and brain waves are present, then aren't they actually killing a living being, after that?

Actually I think the law has done a pretty good job of figuring out how to live within most people's moral parameters. First 3 months, no questions asked, basically; next 3 months, gets increasingly complex; final 3 months, generally abortions only allowed in very extreme circumstances (like life-threatening to mother, or baby has conditions "incompatible with life" that will cause it to die soon after birth).

That sounds about right to me, personally.

And you ever so conveniently left out the fact that it takes two people to create a pregnancy and you left all the blame and responsiblity on the woman.

Well, the responsibility IS entirely on the woman as to whether she wants to continue the pregnancy or not. If she knows she does not want to continue it, then she has the unilateral right to abort it. If she has the baby, then she has the right to seek child support from the man. She actually (and rightly, IMHO) has more of a say-so about continuing the pregnancy than the man does.

I suggest we stop discussing this. It's a very highly sensitive topic. This is not the right thread for this subject.

Everyone have different opinions. Even different views as well. Just respect them and mine. But I agree, we should stop discussing now.

Look. If there a teenger girl who got baby by had a sex and she don't want it then she SHOULD give baby a birth then give it away. Better than kill them. But if these women are in risk then they can choose to abortion or not. If women were raped by men, they can choose to abortion. But for women who had sex and got a baby but they didn't want it. Too bad, that's what they get for having a sex in first place! If they don't want it then they should give them away. It is just my opinion.

A pretty dumbfounded opinion. You actually think they're expecting to get pregnant then have abortion?!?!

Methinks you know so little about women. :)

Only bitches would. Like I said while ago, I met someone on myyearbook. Go look at my older post. I won't repeat them.

Me thinks you know so little about men. :)

I am a man, you dumb ass.

You don't get a woman pregnant every time you have sex with a woman.

Ok, I like the first 3 months no questions asked thing. I don't have any personal experience with it so I normally don't say much when it comes to these debates. I just don't think it's anybody's place to judge other people in such a personal/individual matter. I don't really understand why it's such a big deal to keep it legal, it's not like just because it's legal woman are going to go have crazy unprotected sex and deal with the pregnancy by aborting it.
I can see the whole "killing a baby" side, but because that's such an involved notion (god/s,souls,yada yadas) I think outsiders (as in anyone not involved in the making of the fetus) should only give their 2 cents when asked for it. But this is taking me into another topic all together, so i'll stop my post here.

So, why are you making women responsible? Why don't men own up too?

This.

Making abortion illegal is not going to stop the abortions.

(Slips, this is to Joey)

Well, yes, but note that I did not say that the fact of the pregnancy is only the responsibility of the woman. Took two to get her there.

It's her responsibility to decide whether or not to continue it, though. If she does not want to carry the baby, and the man is upset about that - well, tough for him. Her body, her choice. But his money if she carries it and then wants child support for it. In that sense, she is holding more of the cards.

Gosh! It only an fucking opinion! Respect it!

You know, if my mother were still alive and I spoke the way you just did right now at the young age of 16 to adults, i would be bitch-slapped and grounded for a month.

You demand respect? You need to earn it first.

wow, i'd think she's a bitch... she only wants child support for herself, not for her child.

Why do you say that? If she was self-supporting before she got pregnant, that doesn't necessarily mean she can afford to raise a child all by herself. Even if a woman is married, has a child, and later divorces, she is entitled to child support in all states, I believe, but only rarely will be entitled to alimony.

The costs of raising a child, ideally, should be split between the man and the woman in some way that is fair, but of course out-of-wedlock pregnancies rarely have the financial arrangements tied up quite that neatly.

I felt it is wrong to kill babies.

Luckily, there are no babies involved in an abortion.

I think it's as good as any.

No, your opinion doesn't deserve respect. It is unsupported, biased and heavily flawed.

Gosh! It only an fucking opinion! Respect it!

No. Earn respect. Demanding it makes me respect you and your opinion even less.

Your opinion is ignorant, biased and wrong. It does not deserve respect of any sort.
