GA illegal immigration bill ruins crops

I don't know if they are Mexicans. I do not check their papers. I think they will certainly agree about their toughness. Call it racial pride on their part.

I would call it a cultural pride. I've never heard of Mexcans being a unique race.

I hire hispanics for a lot of my hard jobs. The fact that I know they are hard workers who can stand the heat of a sweltering day doesn't make me racist. They are a hardy stock and no wonder we use them in the fields. I pay them a minimum of $12.50 an hour, though.

One will hire those that are willing to show up and do the work. It's that simple. Like I said previously, if more out of work Georgians (since it was stated that the illegals were taking the jobs away from this population) were willing to do itinerant farm work, the jobs would not be going to illegals. They simply fill a gap that American workers refuse to fill.

I read it just fine.

I have no problem with the hiring of LEGAL immigrants regardless of race. In fact, I helped a man from Turkey pass his citizenship yesterday. If he had decided to gain employment as an illegal, I would not have supported him.

The fact that I would not have supported criminal behaviour gives me an idea of what you consider racism.

You helped a man from Turkey pass his citizenship test! That's a hoot. I doubt seriously, from what I have seen of your knowledge, that you could pass one yourself.:laugh2:

Call it work ethic that seems to be sadly lacking in American workers in this day and time.

Unfortunately, there are those who simply cannot do the required work. Say, for example, a tall, beefy Irishman and short, skinny hispanic show up to get the job of removing tree stumps and rocks from an area in the middle of a hot June day. Who do you think I will prefer? It doesn't happen often but I do need to make judgement calls.

Sure. That happens in any field. One has to be able to meet the job requirements to be hired. It only makes sense that you would hire the person best qualified to do the work you have for them to do.

Mind you, I pay well. I have nothing but contempt for those who pay minimum wages for hard labor. I have never gotten complaints, either.

Shows how much you know ....

That doesn't surprise me. **smile** And I, like you, have a greater disdain for those that exploit the illegal workers than for the illegals themselves.

If they changed ideologies (as so many have claimed) why are the majority of the democrats in my state supporting slave labor ... er ... I mean ... the hiring of illegals?

Ugh, illegal immigrants and slavery are not same.

Back in 1800's, slavery blacks don't get paid for their job and they have a no choice to quit the job, that called forced labor and they get tortured for not working.

Illegal immigrants in US are very different, they do have a choice to accept the job and they are free to quit whatever they want, employers cannot torture them for not working so they got fired instead. It was illegal immigrants who accepted the lower paying below the federal/state minimum wage, not employers so they are just offers the jobs.

Wirelessly posted (sent from a smartphone. )

Well today has the modern version of slave. It is not surprising and not much has changed. They don't admit it. It is just without abuse and torture. Just paid them too cheap and allowing illegals in the US.

No,shows how little you know. You got it backwards again.

Really? Seems you like to put labels on a lot of people that disagree with you. Especially those that that are pointing out you do not have an inkling as to what you are talking about.

Exactly ....

I am showing the Georgia State Agricultural Commissioner this thread.

So far, I have found that the average pay for the unskilled Farm laborer is at $9.63 an hour. (For legal citizens - illegals should not even be part of the equation).

There are ways to become a naturalized citizen, for those claiming this isn't true - bite me.

Only those on the books, though.

What label did she give you for disagreeing with her?

Modern version of slavery will be sex trafficking.

I don't consider illegal immigrants as slavery because it isn't fit in definition.

According to True Life on MTV, I had seen some legal citizens want to be paid below the minimum wage and under the table because they need jobs so really bad, just try to attract the employers.

Only those on the books, though.

The farms that have complied with Federal Immigration laws are the ones on the books. Only 5% of Georgia's Farms filled out a survey concerning the hiring of illegal immigrants.

That leaves one to speculate that 95% of Georgia's farms employ illegal immigrants. I am sure those statistics are not true. However, it does make me wonder if Jimmy Carter filled out one of those surveys.

Jimmy Carter? Why worry about him? Family-owned farms are becoming a rarity, with the vast majority of farms run by big corporations. I am sure they are honest in their paperwork.
