I think I may get this as my new car...

Yeah, the Countryman (or previously, the Clubman) model has been out for a few years now. Seems kinda silly, to me. If you want a bigger car, why get a Mini?

because it looks cool? :dunno:

my Xterra > Countryman :)

Eh, I've never been interested in SUVs or "bigger" cars at all. I think the Mini is the second largest car I've ever wanted (the largest being the Aptera, but those aren't in production yet.)

I guess you don't have to haul much. :giggle:

Nope, and if I do, my dad's got an old truck that he only uses for yardwork that I'm basically allowed to borrow anytime I need it. Mini's got enough storage space for groceries, which is the most that I'll ever need at once, especially since I don't have (and won't be having for a long time, if ever) kids, so the back seats can always get folded down.

We either haul stuff in our Jeeps, or towed behind in our utility trailer, every week. For "light" travel, Hubby has a motorcycle.

That'd probably be fun, but I'm not certain I'd trust myself on a motorcycle, lol.

How do you feel about most cars being bigger than yours? Do you think you will come out ahead in an accident with something that has greater mass than your car?

I'm not concerned, and I think the concept (ohs noes, other people have bigger cars so I need even biggerer cars to win at crashing!) is just plain silly. Small cars are plenty safe, and far more maneuverable (and easier to stop when some idiot in front of me slams on their brakes), and I'd much prefer to enjoy my drive than to tool around town in fear inside a tank.

Depend.

For gas and speed then fiesta win.

For off-road and haul then Xterra win.
that's right
also the fiesta is lighter than the Xterra.
jiro - if you never drove the car off road - then, feels bad man.

Maybe it's silly and maybe not, but you can't see as well and you can't be seen as well.

Er, "can't see as well"? I've driven large vehicles and small vehicles. Large vehicles have blind spots ahoy. Small ones, especially the ones I'm interested in have basically none. As for being in other vehicles' blind spots... that's why I'm getting a turbocharged car, lol.

That must be true. Last year I sold an old Honda Civic to a guy for a demolition derby.

You can't see around them. Can you see through a Ford Excursion parallel parked while pulling out of a parking lot? You're looking at the license plate on the Excursion.

What? I don't even understand what you're saying.

No, my car doesn't give me magical see-through-other-cars abilities. But then, neither does your SUV/tank. That's why when there's a vehicle blocking my view, I'm careful so as to not get hit.

As for seeing around other thing... I think you have a wildly skewed vision of what it's like to drive a small car. Drive one for a month or so, then come back and tell me that you can't handle it and you just absolutely need a tank so that you can see through every possibility on the road. Meanwhile, instead of living fearful of every possible mistake that happens, I'll be having fun while driving. :D

For NYC, bad road conditions, space... Xterra wins.

For everything else including all above.... my bike wins

never drive car offroad and you say feels bad, man? actually.... I should feel bad for anybody who drives their car offroad cuz I'd have to tow their ass back to paved road :)

That's true. But I don't go offroad much (did it once, when to drop off friend, not worth it)

you shouldn't be offroading in a car anyway.

but mind you - I don't consider this as.... "offroad". that's just too silly.
