Teachers and Freedom of Speech

I have mixed feelings about this incident.

But at the same time...why is it that teachers are held to such standards that we cannot express our frustration at the shitty education system of today's world.
 
I honestly don't see the problem, the teacher didn't name any students, nor identify herself. I wouldn't particularly label this is a freedom of speech issue, since no true freedom of speech exists, but rather this is a common sense non-issue. I am happy she had a healthier form of an outlet as opposed to lashing out at people or venting her anger in a more detrimental manner. Kids can and are disgusting at times, :) Just walk into an urban public school, :D
 
I thought teachers are entitled to speak their minds. Lots of adminstrations or governemnts dont listen because they have not sit down with each of students with varied of skills.

They are allowed to speak their minds...they just need to be careful about the way they go about it when it is in public.

True, administration has a completely different view. Teachers are all about education and the student. Administration does not make that a priority in most cases.

Yes I agree if the teachers to speak out in a proper way of saying words. I can image how hard teacher job is, and lots of parents complain to the teachers. So, Where can the teachers complain to. no one. so The blog is the only way for them to speak as long as they use the properly words. eh.

Agreed. Teachers have one of the hardest jobs in the world. It seems they are damned if they do and damned if they don't. Some parents put too much responsibility on teachers for what the parents should be doing at home.

Right. Like my kids at school that teachers gave us the "handbook" sample preparation like if kids aren't sure what they are doing then we can look up at the handbook to give some examples. But some of those sample handbooks are not enough FOR ME. :lol: My hub is the one who work with my kids at the most of time. But my girl's age is that she has to do on her own. :tears: But I would love to if those teachers can give us the handbook sample while kids go to school until grade 12. :) will teachers be willing to give us the handbook while kids are in grade 12??? lol

Yeah, parents form unions while teachers can't.
 
I had a blog. It was well-loved by my circle of friends. ;) I didn't name names or tell which school I was in. I eventually pulled my name off of the blog and all related Google junk. It's anonymous. I didn't break any law, but I stopped. If a kid somehow found that, they'd be upset.

I'm just waiting til I retire so I can write a book. ;)

PS Teachers: If you want an outlet, find yourself a webzine. I did.
 
It's not just teachers.

Can you imagine interpreters blogging about their clients? Whoa! :eek3:

I really can relate.

As for blogging about the frustrations, I think we have the right but just use better wording than this teacher did.
