I personally do believe in reincarnation. There is far too much for us to learn and grow to get it all done in the blink of an eye, which in the grand scheme of things is one lifetime.

What do you think?

Isn't this a religious topic?

yes

yes

I didn't use to believe in it, but I've since come to re-think that, based on people I've met (and what feels like I've re-met, even though I haven't, if that makes any sense.)

What I've kind of discovered, is that I was hearing in my last life before this one. Before that, I was a deaf and dumb, that bullied my deaf mute friends. My karma was degraded, and I was reborn as a hearing music teacher as a punishment. Fortunately, I commited suicide early in that life because I was feeling so guilty, due to my earlier life where I couldn't cope with my deafness. It's only recently I've improved my karma so much, I'm almost out of rebirths as a hearing person.

The irony would be if I'm born into a family that is all gung ho about CI and speech. Working on my karma to avoid that.

It is a religious topic. For some reason I was having a hard time figuring out how to post it there. It can be a debate, if anyone chooses to debate it.
If the mods want to move it, feel free.

religious topic is not allowed in this forum.

Ok, well I missed that part. I thought this was on topic debates? Are religious debates not allowed here either? Because abortion can be a religious issue.

Either way, if it shouldn't be in here then maybe the mods can move it.

Yes, I believe in it.

It's a spiritual/metaphysical topic; not a religious topic. It can quickly be made a religious topic if you start attaching a specific religion's dogma and scripture to the question, but until that happens, it is fine to discuss.

As for me personally, I think science can settle this matter very simply: The law of energy conservation states that all energy is neither created nor destroyed. If our soul, or life force, or whatever it is, is a form of energy, then wouldn't this physical law apply to that energy as well?

That alone created the foundation of my spiritual belief 7 years ago. It always go over other people's head.

I don't really believe in direct reincarnation of the soul, but I do think we all have a piece of each others in that we splinter when we die and recombine with other splintered life forces.

I agree with this part. Reincarnation doesn't involve deities, specific beliefs, etc.

It's true that our spirits continue on in eternity--they are never destroyed.

However, they continue as the individuals that we are, not some other beings.

That is, when Reba's body dies, Reba's spirit continues to exist as Reba. Reba's spirit is never used again for someone else's body because it still belongs to Reba.

Same spirit, just different address.

Every spirit continues, either in Heaven or in Hell. There is no recycling of spirits.

Isn't reincarnation a specific belief? People believe that they will be reincarnated.

For those who believe in reincarnation:

What is the power behind reincarnation? What causes it? What is the agency that assigns spirits to new bodies?
