Contrary to popular belief, most culturally deaf people are usually not against CIs. Initially they were because the purpose of the CI was to "save people from deafness!" What culturally deaf people resent is people mocking ASL or demeaning ASL, devaluing deaf culture, and anything pertaining to making it seem like being deaf is incomplete and incompetent. Deaf people face obstacles, even today. Laws and acts such as ADA do shit for them. In my hometown which is becoming a popular pitstop for culturally deaf people still has issues with police mistreatment and hospitals refusing to provide interpreters.
I believe you are who you are because we have discussed some things, and we did so outside of the AD forum. I think you mean well and sometimes say things out of context without intending to insult others. You do have a way that rubs people, especially culturally deaf people, the wrong way, but I think that's a cultural issue. You are a little bitter, but I don't blame you for it. It's a miracle you survived your accident. It took you nearly two months to walk again.
I will admit that many of your postings are very similar to a previous AD member. I see why others may think you are him.
My advice to you is just keep posting and keep learning what you can about CIs, ASL, and whatnot. Be sensitive to what you are posting, but keep true to yourself. I hate to break it to you. You're no longer hearing, and all the CIs in the world will never cure your deafness. You will have hearing tendencies and views, which is only natural. It's time to learn about deaf views. And as you can imagine, sometimes the two worlds will collide. As you have seen.
