:cool2:oh good, 3 brussels sprouts fans unite! Usually I really like them with lemon spritzed on them but we're outta lemon juice - but we had some olive oil and some pepper and it was still good.

That looks like a hearty meal for a Winter night, Botti; :) and now I'm thinking about blueberry desserts!

Kristina, I sometimes make a chicken and pasta dish too for us. Hubby is very picky about sauce but I love any kinda pasta sauce:)

Tonight I am making thin steaks with onions, white rice and spinach.

I still haven't figured anything out. All family busy except me. I guess I am not that self reliant! :hmm:

Life is better. The busses are on normal schedule after all today. One family member is free. We are off on an adventure to a Chinese buffet!

Burner on stove died, rice did not turn out and therefore, we had bread and butter with the steak and spinach. Would rather have a Chinese Buffet. Botti, can I come join you?

Dinner?...my boys said "we're not gonna eat anything, since we're going out to eat tomorrow eveing, and we'll pig out"!....
I said "great"!...and fixed myself a hot dog....around 7PM....all 3 of them were starving!...Teenagers absolutely cannot go a few hours without eating....so it was hot dogs all around, along with potato chips.

Ha! Just saw this, and am already home. I thought you just got a new stove?

No, only a new wall oven. I wish she (MIL) would have just gotten the stove/oven in 1 piece like most people, but she spent $1000 on a wall oven and we have an old cook top over some drawers.

Wow. My grandmother had that type of wall oven. She was very proud of it. The latest thing in the 1950's.

Is that the time period for your mother in law cooktop?

Yeah - she bought the house in 1961 and it already had both the cook top and wall oven. She's kept them that way all along. This is the 2nd time she's replace the wall oven and she has only replaced the cook top once in the last 40 years.

My specialty: Sweet potato casserole

I made a cheese grits casserole with sausage. Warm and hearty.

Oh, now that sounds wonderful!

This recipe came from an old family friend. The wife of the minister that baptized me in Arkansas.

1 Cup quick grits
4 Cups water
2 teaspoons salt
1 stick butter
1/2 pound grated cheddar cheese
3 eggs, beaten
milk

Cook grits in water with salt. Beat in butter and cheese until smooth and creamy. Add enough milk to the eggs to make 1 cup and add to grits mixture. Pour into a greased 2 1/2 Quart casserole dish. Bake uncovered at 325 F for 45-60 minutes.

Optional: 1 pound of ground sausage. Brown it in a pan, drain well and add to the grits mixture before putting into the casserole. I used sweet turkey Italian sausage. Removed the sausage from the casings.

The dish will be runny and loose but is very good. Serve with a vegetable and a salad and you've got a great meal. The recipe should feed 8 people with small to normal appetites. My family, it feeds 5, but daughter doesn't really like it much.

We had our usual Christmas Eve dinner of pizza and Coca Cola.

My brother went to Mcdonald's and brought my son something from there. I was going to make dinner but my brother beat me to it. Heh..

It sounds VERY good. Are you a Southern gal like me, by any chance? :)
