You should keep learning English. It can be a lifelong process but you'll improve.

I was not surprise that English teachers let students passed english courses at gallaudet.

I have english teachers let me passed but know my english is not enough good in english courses in three years.

eng 102 - fall 2007
eng 102s - spring 2008
eng 103 - fall 2008
eng103s - spring 2009
eng 280 - fall 2009
eng380 - spring 2010

I am too tired to complete english courses.

Gallaudet asked students to take english or they cannot get degree,

I have a friend who went to harvard, was my roommate at CSUN, supposed go harvard but his english is not enough same as me.

You cant tell me if my english is.

I still struggled my english before I transfer to gallaudet.

because of communication delay and lack of structure of english at school...I passed ACT and essay on my own but take placement test and writing in class at hearing university is tough make me too sleepy and flunk classes, then I transfer to gallaudet.

You are lucky that Gally teach English. I think it will help you move up to the next step. Because you probably get stuck in remedial English in other colleges. They are really for hearing people with some learning disability.

I did not see any students failed college english courses at gallaudet because it was easy to pass course. But in major is different story, those female strict teachers can give you hard time if you show your english is terrible or no commit in class, some students who are in major and frustated with continuing their major because of teachers did not like what students write of this way. I know that strict teacher wil fail students if they did not meet their standard, will correct lots of error on grammar affect on grade but not look what you imrpess your paper. I already have met some strict teachers but never take their classes before. most of my teachers are nice and let me passed english courses.

Can you tell that why I was lucky at gallaudet and passed english course. Many students thanked to teachers and get degrees. What is about deaf people who had CI and oral and other like not belong to deaf culture in other colleges, they still passed english courses. I remember I was struggle at english class in hearing university. I am really scared of fail english class at ivy league school but ...

Can you give a reason why hearing or deaf graduate at Ivy League School instead of gallaudet?

If you answer, you will know.

I was just hard work to finish my credits and major to graduate.

If you want to improve your English..go to the library and read a book on ivy league. No more tv for you.

Who told you that? Don't you have to write research papers and reports for your classes?

I got A on research paper and reports for my classes, one of my course is tough...but got A on paper is not very esay for me think and complete this essay will take one to two weeks.

At the college where I work, students might be able to take some of their courses before finishing the developmental math courses but they definitely aren't allowed to take any if they can't pass the reading course. The whole reason for the developmental reading course is to ensure that the students can read and comprehend their college text books.

Btw, I had to take developmental english and math ( I had to math because it been years and I forgotten my algebra) in my local community collage. No big deal.

The deaf students I work with at the college where I went to grad school have to take an average of 1 year developmental work in math and English. Virtually all of them came from the mainsteam. The interesting thing is, approximately 77% of hearing college freshmen have to take an average of 1 year developmental work in math and English, as well. Says more about the quality of education in the mainstream than anything else.

My son, if I may use him as an example, entered hearing college without needing developmental courses. He attended a deaf school with a bi-bi focus.

People, we have GOT to stop engaging him. He thinks what he says is not completely insane.

You are seeing the same thing I am, then. Thing is, it is not limited to the deaf students.
