WWIII has begin?

exactly...generational "gaps"...attitudes...takes time for misconceptions/stereotypes to melt. Chinese Exclusion Act was an official law from the US specifically targeting Chinese. It re-inforces that idea of having the social stereotypes of Chinese (Asians) in place.

Just like the children of the 1950s and 1960s were raised to hate the Communists. If they see words like socialism, liberal, peace, red, etc, they think communists!

I'm not saying all of them are like that, but yes, I have met a lot of them. I'm not a communist though, just saying.

Right now, we are seeing people being taught hate toward the religion of Islam. It has been growing ever since the terrorist act struck in 2001. Meanwhile, some places are teaching the children to hate us and the Americans too as well.

Stereotyping is a dangerous practise.

:laugh2::laugh2:Gooblygook?

Where's Charlie?

all of this discussion is helping me lean towards being an immigration lawyer...

"Charlie" stands for C (NATO phonetic alphabet)

VietCong = VC = Victor Charlie. Easier for them to yell "Charlie".

"Korea" is an American word for Korea. Han-Guk is a Korean word for Korea.

I met quite a few of them. A lot of children who grew up during WW2 and other Asian wars grew up with a strong disdain of the Asians.

Otherwise, they wouldn't be calling them Japs, Goons, Yellow, etc would they?
I was curious what age groups you consider "seniors." :)

I wasn't born until after WWII but I was alive during the Korean War, and served in the Navy during the Vietnam War, so that's where I'm coming from. I never used those derogatory terms and very rarely heard them from people I knew. It's true that those who fought in Vietnam didn't all have a high regard for the Vietnamese people, especially the northern ones and Viet Cong. It wasn't from how they were raised but what they experienced.

because they didn't think the Americans would kill hundreds of thousands of civilians in a flash of eye.
Why not? I'm sure they would have if they had the opportunity.

:gpost:

love, not hate.

failing to listen is what changes hatred to violence :(.

Islam. So many bad misconceptions and it's "early". The pattern of teaching non-muslims of what Islam is...very disturbing for the future.

Really? Obama just went "eh, go ahead and steal that classified info that'll be released later"....sweet, can you ask him to prevent global warming?

oh...I thought the Taliban/bin Laden were the donkeys of 9/11....

Russia was able to stop wikileaks .... :hmm:

no they wouldn't.

The only person in the history who killed that many civilians is Adolf Hitler. Now Harry Truman sits on the chair next to him.

:cold:

they're usually in their 90's by now.

55 and above are considered seniors. Although I don't visualize them getting around with walkers, canes and cartons of prune juice. Just saying.

when it concerns the espionage act .... absolutely

um..... what?

you were wrong about WikiLeak founder and now you're wrong about this one again. You might want to look up on what qualifies as espionage act.

no they wouldn't.
You obviously haven't read much about what the Japanese did during WWII.

They had no regard for civilians, and their atrocities toward them are well documented.

The only person in the history who killed that many civilians is Adolf Hitler. Now Harry Truman sits on the chair next to him.
Also not true. Do you know about Stalin and Mao?

The worst genocides of the 20th Century

I'm in that group, and I must say I wasn't taught to hate ethnic groups or call them names. I don't think I'm alone in that.

I'm not saying it didn't happen for some people but it certainly wasn't a generation-wide phenomena.

all of that fits. So no, the U.S. would not be thugs if they execute Bradley Manning.

He is in the hands of the military, and will be charged under the UCMJ, and tried by court martial. His is a totally military case.

I hope they throw the book at him.

huh?

we're talking about suspending the Constitution... not execution. btw - no it doesn't fit espionage charge but that's ok. It fits in your head but it doesn't fit for most of us including legal experts.
