I didn't say all. I said many. I used my daughter as an example but i know dozens of children that it is true for as well. Plenty of kids are given sign and spoken language and when they hear well, they decide to focus on spoken language (they the children).

I know over a hundred of kids with CIs who use spoken language. There are only thosands in the entire world. That is actually a lot.

faire_jour has it backwards anyways. CI didn't give deaf the ability to speak Oralism did. Oralism predates the CI.

And amplification of hearing aids enabled more deaf to learn speech.
 
I am deaf and can speak!!! Oh wait....there is something wrong with this picture! I DONT have a CI and I cant speak!!! That's horrible!

Oh tell me about it. At my 2nd job last weekend, I worked with hearing staff ( mind you, it was a deaf agency) and she was treating me like I was stupid until I yelled at her saying that "I may be deaf but I know what the f** I am doing so do you mind?"

This woman works for a deaf agency and talks to me like that? I filled out an incident report against her. Not going to tolerate any form of oppression. Period!
