router issues

Trash the D-Link and buy a Linksys. Also, trash AT&T and get Roadrunner.

We've already got her D-Link issue fixed. Also, it may not be economical for her to switch to Linksys right now, either. So far, I've heard nothing back about her netbook's connection issue, which means that it's possible that she was able to fix it. Then again... -shrug-

Not to be snarky, but what makes you think she has the option to switch providers?

Most cities, if not all, have one or two providers. I hope she's not unlucky enough to be in an area that has just one ISP.

I've had D-Link and Linksys. They both worked fine for me.

I have Roadrunner, and I love it but some people don't live in areas where Roadrunner is available.

Success!!! We got my router and my netbook to connect wirelessly.

My son is currently on the netbook wirelessly on the internet and I am on desktop with the cable plugged into it.

It works!!

Got my techie help from Nathan!!

It will also allow him to connect with his PSP!! He is now a happy clam!!

Awesome! Glad to hear that resetting and reconfiguring worked for you!

It's always great to have someone to walk you through, rather than, "Do this, do that, and you should be good to go"

He logged is through TeamAssist and did the work. It was freaky watching my little netbook do these things without me touching it. :giggle:

... Wait, was this when the netbook was plugged in via wire or what? O_o;

Doing remote support through wireless can be tricky. (ESPECIALLY if you've got a wonky wireless connection like you were having.)

Yeah, I know what you mean, it is pretty much like sending your PC to another site and have them fix the problem instead of waiting for somebody to come down to your place and take 5 minutes to fix. It is cool and yes I do this on regular basis to help Deafies fix their modem/router. It is very important for you to pay attention because you could learn from it and ensure that the person isn't doing something else as intended.

Indeed. Which is why I've built a website specifically for the D/deaf community.

Unfortunately, it's not quite ready yet for public release. :/

But I too also help others on a regular basis. Though for some reason I rarely come across Deafies that want my help. :/

I had taken the cable from the desktop and plugged it into the netbook so he could do it. After he finished, I was connected to the wireless and disconnected the cable and it was still working. Cable went back into the desktop. The kids have used the netbook all day with no problems and son has his PSP working through the wireless now as well.

Ah, as I'd guessed. Awesome! :D

Glad to hear there's no issues now.

That is what I thought, it is nice remote assist software, best for just friend to friend. Yes, I have tested it But not for businesses that do remote assist all the time, I prefer other one and it is not cheap nor free.

I did mean TeamViewer. My brain is scrambled.

I knew I could trust Nathan so that's why I wasn't too worried. At least I was able to download a free version of it. Yes, Nathan does have my password that I set up, but like I say - I trust him to not use it "willy-nilly" whenever he wants to.

Thats good.

Glad I could help. BTW...it's not password I should keep, TeamView generates ID and password everytime a new session is made.
