I thought the hydrant and tree that he hit were on the neighbor's property. That's what they said on the news, and that's how it looks on the diagram.

Hostess Scraps Tiger Woods News Conference
Tiger Woods: US Lawyer For Woman Who Denied Having Affair With Golfer Scraps News Conference | World News | Sky News

A nightclub hostess who denied having an affair with Tiger Woods has mysteriously cancelled a news conference that was expected to take place in Los Angeles at the last minute.

Hours before Rachel Uchitel's lawyer had been due to speak to reporters, the briefing was called off "due to unforeseen circumstances".

A statement from attorney Gloria Allred's office did not elaborate on the circumstances of the cancellation.

Reports in the US suggest she has negotiated a million dollar deal to remain silent about her alleged relationship with the champion golfer.

It was understood Ms Uchitel, 34, would attend the briefing, but would not speak.

Last week, the National Enquirer published a story claiming the world's top golfer had been seeing Uchitel.

The US tabloid newspaper also alleged the pair were recently together in Melbourne, where Woods competed in the Australian Masters.

But Uchitel, from New York, has denied having an affair with the billionaire sportsman.

Speculation has mounted over the 33-year-old golf star's personal life since he crashed his car outside his home in Florida in the early hours of last Friday.

Reports suggested the accident followed a domestic dispute between Woods and his wife Elin Nordegren over allegations he had an affair with Uchitel.

Another American publication, Us Weekly, has reported Los Angeles cocktail waitress Jaimee Grubbs claimed she had a 31-month affair with Woods.

The magazine released what it said was a voicemail that a man who identified himself as Woods left on her phone three days before the crash.

Ms Grubbs told the magazine she met Woods at a Las Vegas nightclub the week after the 2007 Masters - two months before his wife gave birth to their first child.

A third woman, nightclub executive Kalika Moquin, has also been linked to Woods and reportedly last saw him in October.

Woods, who was cited for careless driving and told he must pay a fine of 164 dollars (£98.57) in relation to the car crash, did not comment directly on the claims.

But in a statement, he admitted: "I have let my family down and I regret those transgressions with all my heart. I have not been true to my values and the behaviour my family deserves.

"I am not without faults and I am far short of perfect."

Meanwhile, Swedish golfer Jesper Parnevik, who introduced Elin - then working as his au pair - to the American in 2001, has admitted he thought Woods "was a better guy than he is".

He told the Golf Channel: "I really feel sorry for Elin - since me and my wife were at fault for hooking her up with him.

"We probably thought he was a better guy than he is. I would probably need to apologise to her and hope she uses a driver next time (rather) than a 3-iron."

He added: "It's a private thing of course but when you are the guy he is, the world's best athlete, you should think more before you do stuff."

Woods was left dazed, bloodied and in need of medical attention after the car crash.

His wife told police she used a golf club to smash the back windows of the vehicle in a bid to get her injured husband out.

The couple have been married for five years and have two children.

His previously squeaky-clean image has helped him amass a fortune through product endorsements and appearance fees.
