Strongman event - Hummer Tires

At the rate I am going, it probably will be years before I can participate in a marathon. I would like to do something like that to raise funds to help people in need. :dunno:
the 26-miles marathon, right?

I have had enough of intellectual endeavors from my job by teaching! lol
lol I meant OTHER intellectual endeavors. it's just simply not enough time and effort to do it, right?

Nah, not gonna go crazy over exercise again. Dont have the time but I would rather exercise than pursure more intellectual endevors because I have always had a love for sports and physical activity growing up along with reading.

exactly - just like millions of other people. just a normal life. how can one pursue other intellectual endeavor while spending some time at gym after work? just not enough time and energy left!

After teaching all day, my brain just doesnt want to do any more thinking than necessary and working out at the gym doesnt require any intellectual thought. I guess I just need a good balance of both.

yep. like a normal human being. we're no robot hence jillio's post about doing it with moderation in order to improve your health. doing it for competition like strongman is not beneficial for your health.

Now, I understand better. Thanks for explaining. :)

I guess I dont know enough about strongman to make a judgement but now that I think about it, I wonder if it is really bad for one's back.

and having these huge muscle mass... that requires lot of energy and metabolism which leads to... short life. notice that most elders who lived past 100+ years old are thin and most of them said that they eat very moderately? Many Galapagos tortoise are doing same thing and can easily live up to 200 years :hmm:

of course... if people wish to be like strongman, go ahead! nothing wrong with it. if people wish to spend lot of money and time to look young and beautiful, go ahead! and if people wish to be smartest man/woman alive, nothing wrong with it either :) point is - it's not feasible to have both - brawn and brain. the easiest way to do it is doing it in moderation. by doing that - you may not be the strongest person or the smartest person but it's a healthy good life to live :)

Absolutely. Plus, you receive intellectual stimulation all throughout the day, given your profession. More would no doubt be more stress inducing. That is when moderate exercise becomes beneficial, just like my yoga 3 times a week, or my knitting to de-stress. You need to de-stress from the academic environment, and so do I. More academics won't accomplish that.

To me... when I see someone with a lot of muscles... I think to myself:

Either that guy work at a warehouse, he's a bouncer... or he's single. Or doesn't spend a lot of time with his family.

I don't really care for what one do with their spare-time, but... you can't help wonder how much time they put into doing things that neglect other areas of life.

Like I said, each sport has it's risk. Marathon running, with years of running in preparation for it can produce problems and injuries. Depending on how excessive one runs, the type of shoe one wears, how one runs (lightly vs hard), and so on.
Running Injury - Common Injuries in Runners

The Most Common Running injuries

Moderation is always good. But for those who have the competitive spirit and want to challenge themselves then they increase their intensity, volume or size of their exercise training to achieve a certain goal in life.

Look at Tiger Woods, is his sport he has injuries from golfing constantly. Even in "moderation" one can still get injuries. Each of our own body's structure is different and how it can adapt and handle certain movements and stress.

So, strongman competition is what it is, a competition to see who can lift, push or pull the most under the best time. If there isn't any competition in life then life wouldn't be that exciting. No football. No baseball. No soccer. No hockey. No gymnastic. No UFC. No boxing. No wrestling. No Mr. Olympia. No marathons. No Iron Man. No Olympics games. And so on. So, it's easy to talk about "neglect" when people do take the time to manage their time when it comes to exercising. It is physical outlet for the many of us and the important thing is that people enjoy doing it.

As for the hummer tire lift, I just think it's cool to watch them do it. It's a sports entertainment just like football is. I suppose you watching a professional football game (or any other games) on tv that you like to do ever and wonder how much time those players put into doing football ever since they were little into adulthood that they neglected other areas of life? Yeah, sure, sure. I'm sure you guys do that all the time. Pretty convenient to say that in here.

the bigger the car, the smaller the you-know-what (just keeping it safe for the minors here).. :giggle:

Bingo. And not just the car, but the need to appear to be super masculine by having big muscles that everyone can see. (They can't see the part that is being overcompensated for, you know!)
