Good point, although I think it was the timing and frequency of the vacations that people objected to, not the vacationing itself. :)

Not by me, but I am not really left. I think that job requires several vacations to keep the mind fresh. As for what the women wore, it never mattered to me either. One thing to keep in mind; they were campaigning, the Obamas were vacationing. Different expectations for each.

I can't believe people are getting bended out of place because the First Lady wore shorts in public! We have vets coming home with missing limbs and their faces blowed off and people are freaking out about this! People need to get a life! When I saw Mrs. Obama wearing shorts I thought nothing of it! and she does nice legs!

DEAD WRONG!! It was just on the news tonight that some people are complaining about how much money the Obama vaction cost when people are having a hard making ends meets! And people are going to meetings with photos of Obama looking like Hitler! Mrs Obama got criticized for showing off her bare arms! So you're dead wrong about the Obama not being criticized!

and no it's not about First Lady wearing shorts in public. It's about First Lady wearing shorts COMING OUT of Air Force One - something that has never happened before.
 
Sorry, but who cares about what she's wearing coming out of the plane? She's STILL on vacation. Let these people have a real life, president and/or first lady or not.
 
I don't think the shorts she wore on the Air Force One were inappropriate, She looks conformable, happy and relax. Since when do they have to be dressed up when going on a family vacation?

I think she looks just fine in these shorts. I have a pair of shorts that looks similar to what she was wearing and I think they look good on her.

I think that if we as American Citizens are allowed to dress down and wear casual shorts and shirts whenever we want when we aren't working then I think the entire First Family should be allowed to do so too. I really do think it must get very tiring for all famous people to have to constantly wear fancy high class fashion clothes all their waking hours, even when they're not even working/acting/whatever, just to maintain their image. I know I would get sick of doing that if I did that. It's their right to wear jean shorts and shirts, and wear whatever they think feels comfortable on them. I understand the need to dress up for events or public speaking or important things like that...but when she's just walking the family dog or relaxing at the White House with the children or having some chill time or the family is on a vacation, there is totally NOTHING wrong with jean shorts even if they are cut-off shorts. I honestly do not care. I can't stand people who are stuck up and actually think that they must constantly wear fancy high class fashion clothes and fancy expensive cakey make up and wear high heels (ouch my toes just to think of that) all their waking hours...it just makes them look like they have egos the size of Jupiter. The Obamas are more humble than that which is why you will find them wearing shorts and shirts sometimes, and the kids in casual clothes more often. I like humble people much better than people who think they are better than you just because they are famous or is the president or the first lady/first family or just because they think they look good in fancy expensive clothes. Stuck-up people are frankly just very annoying.

The media needs to find something else to whine about. What the First Family wears is not as important as the state of the economy or the troops in Iraq or other much more important things that we should be focusing on. The media just wants to cause drama for the First Family because they know the GOP likes that, and they should be ashamed of themselves to attempt to make the First Family looks bad just because Mrs. Obama wore a pair of jean shorts. The media just loves to blow every single thing out of proportions because doing that earns them attention which earns them ratings which earns them $$$. If they feel the need to blow things out of proportions, they should do so on more important things that needs our attentions such as children from poor families going hungry or crimes or child molesters or things that urgently needs our attention much more than a pair of jean shorts on a very respectable wife of the respectable President. Besides, I don't think anything she wears will make her look less respectable...she has just the look that gives her the ability to look good in everything from casual clothes to high class fashion clothes, she's that beautiful. So that pair of jeans and a t shirt does not bother me one bit. I still think she looks just great.

So the media just needs to STFU and go focus on something else, and leave the First Family alone.

I'm planning to fly to the DC area next month. Should I wear high class fashion clothes with high heels that have high chances of breaking my ankles when I fall (I fall frequently) and cake my face in gross expensive make-up, and have my hair in a updo? I don't think so. I'm just gonna wear a t-shirt, a hoodie, and jeans. :roll: I wouldn't expect the First Family to wear clothes just to go on a plane, unless they're going someplace extremely important.

Uh, I still think it wouldn't matter what Mrs. Obama wore even if they got off the plane at the nearest airport and rode in a motorcade to the Canyon. They're STILL going to the Canyon. End of story. :roll:

Sarah Palin spent campaign money on her clothes, to the tune of (if I remember correctly) 150 grand or even more. Of course she's going to get criticized for that. She's a dumbass anyway.

As for Cindy McCain, I've heard nothing about her. She wasn't the focus when McCain was running for President.

With everything that's going on in the world, there's an uproar created over the length of Mrs. Obama's shorts? Are you serious? Why on earth does it MATTER? She could trollop around naked for all I care- how does that influence me? Her husband's choices, on the other hand.. much more important.

Calm down. It was a true statement at the time that I posted it. Since then, more has happened.

Just for the record, I'm not against the Obamas taking vacations. I don't want my Prez to stress out.
