Reusable Grocery Bags May Poison You

It sounds like not true and bottled waters are far more healthier than tap water, tap water in our country isn't very clean and it has too many minerals.

If you think that plastic bottle isn't good then pour the tap water into plastic bottle are still same.

Bottled waters (20 oz) cost 75 cents at my workplace.

If I'm go to somewhere or workplace then water filter is out of question, only bottled waters are found in anywhere, especially gas stations.

Did you ask your employer about water filter? You never know that they do have filter water?

True, but someone who is truly living green will not use disposable diapers because of the plastic coating and the fact that they create trash. They would use cloth diapers, wash and re-use them, just like in the pre-Pampers days.

True, they are truly green (full 100%) if they use cloth diapers.

Did you ask your employer about water filter? You never know that they do have filter water?

No, they don't and our company don't want water filter due cost.

We have store brand bottled waters machine in employee's lounge but I prefer Dasani from coke machine.

I dislike water fountain because they aren't clean or taste like fresh.

Plastic are recyclable and we do have recycle can for plastic bottle.

Give clothes in good condition to thrift stores. Clothes in bad shape can be used as rags. I collect old jeans and cut out useable cloth to make a denim quilt. I finished the top layer and now need to work on bottom layer as I want to make it reversible. I love denim. I can use the leg part to make a bag. Once I made a cloth-pins holder out of the leg part. I don't have that but I can make another one if I go back to hanging the laundry outside. I will have to figure out where I can put them without offending neighbors.

I like to use old clean cotton underwear/sock to stain wood before throw it away. That is why I try to buy cotton underwears/socks. Cotton bras are harder to find.

Me, too.

The people from company put big bucket for clothes and shoes collection on each house/apartment, left notes to let us know when will they pick them up. We donated any clothes and shoes with good condition into the big bucket, for them to pick them up on next day. It´s voluntarily... They use clothes and shoes for recylce and also donate to poor countries as well...

We alway buy cotton underwear and cloths for housework etc.

Did you know that tap water contains random chemicals and is artificially treated?
That's why people may use the tap filter, to counter it.

In a chemistry laboratory experiment, I was doing testing on random liquids to see how conductive they were.. This picture should give you an idea of what I was doing:

Electrolyte.JPEG

The light bulb is only supposed to light up if there is a concentration of ions in the solution, meaning that the chemicals have an electric charge in it.
I put it into a glass of salt water, it lit up very strong.
I put it into a glass of sugar water (soda), it didn't light up.
I put it into a glass of vinegar, it lit up.
I put it into a glass of pure deionized water, it didn't light up.
I put it into a glass of 2% alcohol (booze), it didn't light up.
I put it into a glass of everyday tap water, the light bulb LIT up very dim.

I was surprised.

It is said that generally the chemical contents of tap water in the USA is safe enough to drink by LAW, but I still would not attempt it.. knowing what is inside.
I'm not sure if filters work because I didn't test filtered water.
But anyways, this is why some people may prefer to drink bottled water, because it's been "stated" to be distilled so that it doesn't contain tap water chemicals, theoretically it should not light up if you put the test into bottled water unless the company was lying or you have some treated water in it.

You will never know if the bottled water has conductive electrolytes or not unless you do the testing yourself, it's really the personal choice for anyone to make themselves.

If you want to be truly green by the usage of water, then look for a chance to live next to a river, lake or spring and do all the filtration yourself. That way you don't have to worry about government regulations in tap water, and you don't have to worry about littering bottled water.

 naisho, you are a scientist... You doing well to experiment on something...

Interesting...

If the US law says that you can drink from tap water which mean that they know that tap water is clean.

Accord German law, all the water is clean, we can drink from tap water but I still use filter on every taps in the household.

I do drink from tap water at workplace as well.

The US regulation on water is joke, you can check about how is clean the water.
University of Cincinnati - Drinking Water Quality

I don't like tap water, they are taste like pale and not fresh, I want fresh water.

In LA, no way, I wouldn't want drink tap water because I had taste like bitter in past.

We do have water filter via fridge but it's use for home only.

I heard on the news some bottled water is tap water!
I drink bottled as the water is my city taste horrble and smell horrible too!
I do recycle my bottles ,I buy the gallon of bottled water, not the small one.
I wish I could drink my city water and save money , it is a drag that I have to pay a water bill and buy bottled water too!

Did you know that tap water contains random chemicals and is artificially treated?
That's why people may use the tap filter, but I think unless otherwise you have some very expensive system, we're talking a huge filtering machine, not the small round thing you put on the facuet.

Cool! why didn't you make video of what you were doing with your lab and post it here to us. :naughty:

I prefer plastic bags because of easier to grab more bags or use for trash.

If you have tons of paper bags then it could cause problem with cockroaches, I remember about back in early 90's and we had alot of paper bags from grocery store and I noticed more cockroaches are occurred but much less today because almost rest of stores use plastic bags.

I can grab as much as 10 full plastic bag of groceries at same time, from car to home.

I do not support paper and plastic shopping bags and also don´t use both plastic and paper shopping bag for trash bin but cloth bags for shop everywhere and plastic shopping basket (useful for back of car to put foods and drinks in).

Yes, I have to buy plastic garbage bag. It´s useful for clean cat´s business from litter box and dirty foods, etc.

Not true, bottled waters are already processed with filter before sold to store or anywhere.

That's your choice.

I don't believe about government should regulate on shopping bags, I prefer plastic shopping bags and I can save all of them for everything, such as trash, lunch, used stuff or storage.
