What was your favorite toy when you were a kid?

An older version of this:

I also did not care for dolls. I had a monkey almost exactly like this.

I never had a favorite toy but I do recall playing soap opera storylines with my barbies and my brother's GI Joes. And yes there were some sex scenes, this was coming from a 5 year old!

Would people mind describing the pictures they post for deafblind ADers? Thanks.

Lisa,

I personally posted picture of a similar kind of roller skates that I had back in the 80's. They were strapped around your ankle and the front of your feet. You kept her own shoes on and then strapped the roller skates on to.

It is a very nice memory to me because, tomboy as I was, I loved to drive my dad and grandmère crazy using them inside the house<giggle>

Lisa, I post a picture of me when I was about 5 or 6 years old holding my doll that was gave to me for christmas I think in 1967, well anyway its a doll that had a knob on the back that can change face when you turn it. It can look happy, crying and sleeping. It has a white dress.

OMG! I had the same monkey, and it went everywhere with me! I loved that little guy.:P

I felt the same. He was lost when I was an adult. We moved and all my important childhood souvenirs went in one bag.

That was the bag the movers lost!!

And Hear Again, this toy was just cloth body, with plastic monkey face, hands, and feet, and holding a banana in one hand.

I didnt have many things I loved as a kid. but there was a doll me and my sister used to sleep with. Hers was blue, mine was purple. It had really long hair and was the size of a child, it was soft and we used to play and plait the hair.

I had some lion king toys when I used to be king lion fan as a young child. ;) Right now, I had very several lion kings stuff in my packet.

Those are some new-fangled skates! What I had looked more like these:

the metal skates bring back memories! I never did learn skate , I fell too much! My dad send out his shirts to the dry cleaner and they came back in cardboard box , we would made a small hole in the box and tie sting to the box then pull it all over the house and up and down stairs! And we had a toy box full of toys! We liked the box better!

Incredible Edibles machine. It made creepy foods. It was like the Easy Bake oven.

I remember playing with the older version of that machine. I think it was for my older brother. The machine I had was open hot plate while your version is closed). I remember making plastic spider and I put in wire in the legs so I can bend the legs. I don't remember if I can make either plastic bugs and gummy edible bugs with that machine. I also had Easy Bake oven. I figured what make it heat - a single light bulb!!

Do you remember the round flat thing where you pull the string and it made farm animal noises? I think my mother bought me to help me to hear the sounds but I figured it out without listening to the noise. I noticed that what animal the arrow was pointing at before my mother pull the string is what made the animal noise. She kind of left me alone about it when I pointed out all the right noises. She probably think I could identify the animal noises. *smirk*

Aren't those the skates that if the pin came out, you would find yourself either kissing the pavement or doing the splits?

I never had a Easy Bake oven, but I had a lot of toys from Little Tykes as my grandma worked at the Booneville plant making those toys. She was the one that made the eyes for all the animals.

Some of the toys that I remember getting:
Today's Kids baby nursery
Today's Kids blue truck shaped toy box.

There was a factory that made all these toys in Booneville AR. It shut down and the building was left vacant for nearly 10 years before another company made it and now they make baby wipes in there.

It would be nice if we could bring that kind of industry back in the area.

We used to have Wayne Farms, Petit Jean Poultry, Tyson, Today's Kids, Deltic Timber, Plainview Steel Company, Granduer Fasteners, etc all in the county at the same time. Man - this county used to have it good when it came to employment. Most anyone could find a job doing something. Not to mention the various grocery stores, drug stores, gas stations, and hospitals that are needed to support that kind of industry.

That's what we had also, but I couldn't find a picture. I think it was square with a handle and metal, quite hot when it "baked".

BTW speaking of my favorite toy is Barbie RV which is a old version of RV which is long and yellow.

I was always coloring or riding my bike so my crayons and my bike were my prized possessions as a kid.
