Mini trains....what do you mean by that?
it's a typical statistic of "bloodline" bridge. GWB and Lincoln Tunnel are basically the bloodline of NJ-NYC.... that's how NYC replenishes itself... they need supplies coming from NJ and vice versa. We have the major shipping ports - Port of Newark and others. (that's why we have cheaper gas compared to other states)
Central NJ area = Newark + major airport + major industrial zone. NYC's a very hungry beast...
Golden Gate Bridge Facts - Traffic
* Average crossings: About 40 million per year, counting both north- and southbound crossings, compared to 33 million crossing the first year it was open.
* Fewest crossings: January, 1982, during a storm which closed U. S. 101 north of the bridge. On January 6, only 3,921 southbound vehicles passed the toll gates.
* Most crossings: October 17, 1989, after the Loma Prieta earthquake, when Bay Bridge was closed. 162,414 vehicles (counting those going both directions) crossed the bridge that day.
* Total crossings: Through October 30, 2002, the Golden Gate Bridge Highway District says 1,754,094,967 vehicles crossed the bridge.

it's one of those um..... "Light Rail" train.

Ohhh lol....that's what we are going to have here in Seattle on July 2009 from Sea-tac Airport to downtown Seattle. That picture is a diesel powered light rail train. Notice there is no overhead power line to conduct electricity to power the trains?

Good observation. I didn't realize that. in here - it's powered by electricity. Funny thing is - that light rail train is from NJ as well (see the logo on front?)... but in south. I suppose it's probably diesel-powered.![]()
