Yeah, I would take that advice, since there would be some hidden repairs that needs to be seriously considered, but I am hopeful to find one that doesn't hurt my wallet that much.

It will sooner or later! Always be prepared for it cause it will happen. Just don't know when.

I had a natural underground gas leak during the cold winter of December, And my gas was shut off because it requires immediately repairs and can lead to fire or even explosion. Now, if I had own this house, I would have paid $4,000.00 out of my pocket to repair the gas line. Unfortunately I did not have that kind of money during this time frame and my two sons would have freeze to death with no heating system during the cold winter. With renting, I could be able to get my gas line repaired in time, and gas heating system turned back on. So, it's not dead money.

See how that will is bolded? It's true. I had no renters insurance when I had my fire on the Condo. Thank god the condo association had the outside/pipes/furnance insurance!!

Hey, my parents fight all the times it seems. So I totally understand you being hesitant to move back in. Well, you can always rent a house. :cool2:

Yeah, at the least I get the chance to save a lot of money such as I can pretend to keep renting, the money I go to the savings is already saved a lot if it was a 'pretend' renting box or something :lol:

:eek: wow i surely would love to buy house that is under 6-figures. the avg price around here is $500,000+ for a "decent" house. there are some for $300,000+ but it's usually crappy at undesired location.

Best option if u buy a 300,000 house then renovate to get more profit in later years ;)

My advice. Buy a house, not an apartment, since later you will get married and have kids. It is much easier to have a good family life in a house with play space outside for the kids. Also any noise from kids won't get complaints in a house like in an apartment.

I dont understand...underground gas leak as in underground gas line? If that was the case, then it is the utility company's responsibility to fix it not the homeowners since the gas line is for public use. However, if the gas leak was inside your house and you paid $4,000 to repair it, it would most likely increase the value of the house by repairing it with new parts. Like I paid $11,000 to replace all my windows cuz the old windows were drafty, worn out, and loose. By installing new windows, I increased the value of my house by $20,000 so that is a $9,000 return of the $11,000 we spent. Hope that makes sense.

i am speaking of my experience ;)
i can't save money but i did have some left from rents and bills that i don't live with my parents free i pay rent to them and the money goes to the monage company the reason why i am paying rent to them is because they treat me like adult and i learn to pay rents when i move out and i already know how to rent then i don't have problem renting even i pay bills my OWN bills

well Cheri don't own the house and she is renting but i understand what you mean by it :) and it is good information
 
Well mine is opposite, I'd rather to live in a home and straving with little money over living with my parents for free. I just can't stand any policies on my private property. I can understand about your saving, although I don't rent, but own a property and pay the monthly payment on the loan which cost alittle more than half of my paycheck, and I have a roommate, that help only alittle because 1/3 of it would be saving for maintance, 1/3 of it would be for utitilies, and 1/3 of it would be for the monthly payment on the loan, and the monthly payment won't stop for another 30 years, also the food stamps do help, but not alot because if I buy good healthy foods often then it will be out in half of month before another month that I will get it again and it doesn't even support the food for my pets so I have to pay the foods for them, also I cannot even able to afford for a car, its gas and the insurance so I don't drive and have to walk and riding the city buses all the times so that mean if I need anything that require a car to carry, then it will be harder for me to do so because nobody want to help me for free due to the gas prices. I don't feel any difference if I rent a apartment except that I could keep that money if I get out and sell. But I can stand by those tough life that I am living on right now, I am okay with those, it's just a life. This property is all I got.

Sorry if I blah too much about my life, but if you feel like it's right for you to live with parents and save your money for your own goal, it's all good :) You know, everyone, even the rich people, do have hard time with their life in many different ways, it's the reality and life, also just a normal.

I wish your a good luck with your saving and goal, also your life ;)

Nope, It's the home-owner's responsible to hire a licensed gas expert, if the gas line touches the street, then it's the city's responsible to hire a licensed natural gas expert. :) Nothing is free, it cost money either way.

I am saying if she owned a house and it was an underground gas leak then the utility company will be responsible for fixing it not her. At least that's how it works here in MD...any water, gas, or electricity underground line leaks or breaks, the city or utility company comes and fixes it, not the homeowners. If they are inside the homeowner's house, then yea, the homeowner is responsible. That's what I am trying to clarify cuz I am not sure if I understanding her correctly.

If I were you, I'd move back in with parents for a while to save money and until the job situation is a sure bet. This way you know for sure about the job and save money in the process. You also get some time with parents and talk about house stuff "without trying to get together to do that".

Good luck and enjoy! I moved back in with my mom for a year after college before I moved to Florida. It was really good while it lasted.

You better double check, from my understanding if it's on your property under-ground, It's the homeowners responsibilities for any repairs even sewer pipes. If the leaking pipe is off your property to the street underground, then it's the city's responsible for all repairs including sewer pipes and gas lines. :)
 
I'd LOVE to have us live in our own place but renting for us is really good for us these days. Another year to save up some more.

no not for that place in that location. nobody is going to buy a "nice renovated house" in middle of undesirable location. you're only asking for robbery :|
