I am wondering If you had been thinking about getta netbook lately?


Yesterday, I just purchased ASUS EEE PC from bestbuy. 10in Netbook sit on 17in Laptop which is my fiancee's. so anyway we share our netbook for perosnal travel, coffee shop or hosptial for purpose..if necessary,..whatever..


I chose WIN XP OS over UBuntu OS. when you are on internet, its will give you fast loading like 1 sec or less.. no kiddings. If you don't believe that. I would put video clip of ee pc with internet so fast loading via youtube.

I realized that Netbook isn't CRAPPY TOY!

netbook is nice! lack of webcam and battery life is 3 hours. I still think that necessary to purchase small notebook or netbook for my business trip.

Chevy57, if you will go to Dell.com and you'll notice that there is built-in webcam option.

Yes, You can pay your bill on internet, check your account's balance, etc. You can customize netbook with upgrade stuffs like harddrive, ms office, etc.. Did you know that can hack the OS X running into any netbook:

You must make sure the harddrive running netbook instead SSD as concept of flash memory before you purchase it. what SSD stand for? it's "a solid-state drive". hdd running netbook behavior like the exact way notebook does.

netbooks do have webcam, but depend on netbook series you choice. mine netbook doesn't have webcam built-in. So i can add the USB webcam if necessary. what about battery? I read the manual said that battery running netbook with xp for 5 hours. what if i installed Ubuntu OS on netbook, will ruinning for 4 hours. that's strange!

Did you know that Asus netbooks had preintalled MS Office software which I have it but i did not use yet. I am sure that some neetbooks has the preinstalled ms office softwares.

Brian, Yeah I did resource netbooks & stuffs before I buy it. I realized that 8.9 screen, Ubuntu Linux version 8.0.4, 512MB2 DDR2 & 4-16 GB of small SSD running the Inspiron Mini 9 for 349.99. You can upgrade 2GB RAM on dell netbook, however it won't give you upgrade (120, 320 GB ) more than 16 GB SSD unlike asus netbook. thats about all. Mine netbook run 120GBHD, in future-upgrading hard-drive 320, 500GB on and on capable with ASUS 1000HD netbook, isn't that super-cool? and even can upgrade 2GB on it also! thats what I read manual book. but you can visit asus fromLINK

My teacher at the community college, have one as well, but the memory and other things wasn't good, I witnessed the loading of the windows, when it was projected to the powerpoint screening, it was EXTREMELY slow but I believe he just purchased the cheapest of all :roll:

Neat! I would love to have Netbook. It is easier for me to carry anywhere. I don't care about it's small space. I would want Ubuntu or gOS (Google's new OS base on Ubuntu's core). Or dual booting would be good enuf tho. You can watch DVD movies just like I mentioned in Blackberry Curve's DVD conversation software thread using thumb flashdrive and plug er' in and enjoy the movie. I didn't need all those fancy stuff but enough to run any applications and games. I would want to bring it to work using my BB curve as modem to browse through website (maybe just a little Youtube video watching if I don't go over 5GB cap ). Also you can install virtual CD drives to allow you to install CD games into netbook so you can play game without using cdrom drive (Alcohol 120% software have it, they're good). As for battery, is it just a cell pack or what?

Hey XBMGER, I downloaded and installed Ultra Mobile 3gp Media converter. It turned out that I can't find "subtitle' selection that I can enable to watch subtitles on BB curve!? Also it's not automatic detect correct movie file for conversation, must click to open file and pick one of many files in DVD drive??? What did you do?

I may have to download and install DVD ripper with converter to try it and hopefully it have subtitle that I can change it's font size. It' not me can't read it. It just my wife and most of my co workers can't read it while I can read just perfectly fine .

Let you know Ubuntu is telling you the truth! I'm serious. Windoz can't tell you exactly how long the battery life. When I use XP on my Acer Aspire laptop. It tells me I have 2 hours of battery life fully charged, It dies in 8 min. While Ubuntu running on "live cd" and It warned me that it will have 8 min battery life while I was charging. It even tell me time to replace the laptop battery!!!. I was over it!! When I use Ubuntu on my desktop with wireless mouse. It even warned me I'm low on mouse battery, telling me how much battery juice left in wireless mouse!!! I have never seen this before!!!! Even I swapped to fresh battery, Ubuntu tells me how much juice in mouse battery!! On Windoz XP doesn't tell me till pointer stopped moving while I move the mouse and found out mouse battery is dead.

This tells me that Linux have advanced battery monitor than XP!!!!

Betcha maybe Apple's Airbook would be as thin as two credit cards and careful not to snap it in half. And perhap it's edges are sharp enuf to cut a steak.

I saw my sister s own MacBook Air in few month ago. I like it and it s lighter weight! But s too expensive about $1700 and lack of ethernet port.

Yeah, it may cost more. I wanted 12" display laptops at Microcenter and it cost over $2000 . It comes with dvd rw drive.

I bet the one u want without dvd drive may cost around $500 to $800 for it unless they use mobo that cannot be upgraded except for flashdrive expansion then it'll be cheaper.

OLED display laptops will soon come out and it's much cheaper than LCD type. OLED have short lifespan than LCD just for reminder. Display will be as thin as ur credit card but it'll flex and won't break anyway. OLED is printed on flexible sheet.

I saw Sony VAIO 12" laptop and can't believe it's LCD display is as thin as two credit card. I would be nervous about handling it.

So let's hope it'll be cheap.

Yup, I had seen OLED and looks sexy, is it? I prefer regular LCD because OLED is still new to me and need wait about how OLED run so well.

I will planning to buy new monitor from Dell, it's 22 inches with 1920 x 1080.
